Burrowing owls are always fun to watch and yes, especially to photograph. To a certain degree, I can relate to their behavior. I am always amazed and entertained at the same time.
This juvenile or sub-adult owl was having fun playing on its “trampoline” toy. It jumps up and down several times on that bouncy branch/perch near its burrow. It certainly loves its toy and at one occasion it literally kisses it.
Thank you for stopping by and please, feel free to leave any feedback,
Joshua
Great story and images. I had a similar experience with multiple chicks who were just fledging, fighting to be the one on top of a fence post. They were even climbing up the pole using their talons. It was one of my favorite wildlife experiences. Bruce

Thank you very much, Gary! The only remedy that I know of would be for you to move to Southern California . I know you would love it and you would be so close to your daughter and her family.
