Looks pretty sweet — the lenses outclass the GFX lens design by a mile but also are pricey. Curious to see how the AF performance looks.

Just pre-ordered directly from Hasselblad's website...seemed like that might be the quickest way to receive it (30-45 working days)...and was not charged tax...hmm...

Anyways, time to list my GFX 100s and lenses...

I started to do the same, then they added in sales tax.. so I backed out.

While you're waiting for it, go buy my 907x will ya..

The camera looks to be a worthy upgrade, but it's the 38 that has my attention. Clutched manual focus with distance and depth scales? Hell, yeah.

That's a super cool idea. Focus by wire with accurate distance and DOF scale. Aside from the Leica Q series, I don't know anyone else doing this.

Here's what Fuji and Olympus' implementation looked like

Yeah, I missed the clutch override from my olympus lenses they were so good. Hasselblad checked off all the nice quality of life upgrades both on body and lens so pretty excited

I wouldn't shy away from an aggressively priced Q2.. :P

I need to get around to selling my X1D II as well.. just waiting to see when we get more info on actual X2D shipment lead times.

We heard a lot of stuff about the X2D today, but not much on shipping / availability...

I bought it on Hasselblad...it stated 30-45 working days upon payment...so assuming clock started today...but we will see...I am heading to Alaska on Sunday for three weeks, would be a nice welcome home present to have the X2D and new 90mm waiting for me...

Shipping in Oz is slated for the 23rd Sept, according to the importer. That's for the body and 38mm. The 55 is in the system but no ship date and the 90 isn't yet listed (the one I'm most interested in).

I've ordered the body, 38 and 55. Focal lengths are a bit weird but I think the 38 fits well with the 80 1.9 and the 55 might be a nice walk around being a tad longer than the 45P. I'm not really a 35mm (135 format) shooter but I do like the X1D, 45P and 90 as a two lens kit.

Lot's to like about the new body and it'll probably be my main system, *IF* the original XCD lenses see a measurable increase in focus speed. The new lenses are very fast but I'm not seeing any real data on improvements to lenses like the zoom, 135 and 65. I expect the 80 will still be the slowest focusing lens but hope for a speed bump. Hopefully someone will do a side by side test with the same lens on the X1D vs X2D.

My GFX100S still has some use as a body for the Canon TS lenses I use and the zooms, for convenience. The real problem might be my Leicas. I don't see a use case for the SL2 except for long lenses and I think the Fuji XH2 will do that job. My M11 is smaller as a camera and a system. But the addition of good AF, IBIS and SL2 level EVF mean I'll probably opt for the bigger camera most of the time.

I expect bugs. Many bugs. But after a bit this may be my goldilocks camera for most things. There's nothing here I can't do on my GFX100S body but I just like the X1D (X2D??) better in the hand. For me, as long as it actually does what it says, it's exceeded my expectations for what I wanted in the X2D.

Now I really, really, really want:

a 28mm.
a longer zoom. Doesn't need to be quick. A 100 to 200 f5.6 would be fine if it's as good as the 35-75.
a wide zoom.
a 300mm that works with the 1.7x
a fast 150mm. Like f2.

Gordon

They do have the clutch MF and distance scale on the 90/2.8 macro, proving they can do it, they just choose not to.

To my mind, this kind of engineering make their relatively steeper price tags, when compared to Fuji, worth it. Assuming it feels and operates as smooth as I hope, it makes me look at system lenses, and Hassy, in a new light. I'm not looking to make any moves now. I'm insanely happy with the 50sII and adapting manual lenses, but I do see the draw in having central shutter lenses, and more so if they've got good manual focus tools. I really hope this line is successful for them because, when I am ready to make a change, having a full line of these new V-styles would weight any choice heavily in their favor.

p.4 #16 · Hasselblad X2D

I have updated my blog on the X2D My blog entry on the X2D, which includes a comparison table X2D vs X1DII. AND many of the photos I have been able to find of the new camera and lenses.
Currently it is the X2D that interests me. I own 6 XCD and one HC lens (plus TC and adapter). None of the 38mm, 55mm or 90mm are of immediate interest. Like Karl Taylor said - he is interested in when Hasselblad will deliver a firmware update that provides Eye/Face Tracking in the X2D and what the XCD lens road map and timing will be for version II style updates across the rest of the XCD lenses. like the 80/1.9, 125 and 135mm and yes the awesome 21mm and 30mm.
As of yesterday H online will still not sell to the UK and no UK supplier I spoke to knows when they will have an X2D to sell (even pre orders come without deliver date expectations). Please let me know if you know differently.

Oh man, super disappointing about that readout speed.. wonder if there's any improvement at all over the X1D in that department.

Yeah, the sensor readout is pretty horrendous. I imagine it's hard for these traditional camera companies to adapt to the new landscape where silicon performance matters so much. Companies like Hasselblad and Leica don't even really have the bandwidth or finances to build out engineering teams that specialize in those sectors. Personnel cost is through the roof.
