CATCH AND RELEASE…just purchased last week from @adamjeske I was really hesitant to purchase a monochrome camera but this camera made me a believer. Only selling to fund a Q2M. Camera is in pristine condition. Still has bottom plate protection on it. Sensor was professionally cleaned last week from the person I purchased from. AMAZING CAMERA just would prefer auto focus.

William, Does it have the date of manufacture on it anywhere? I'm just getting into Leica M cameras and I'm looking to get into a reasonably priced M monochrome. I know of the 246, but I don't remember what years they were manufactured, the number of MP's, and does it say accurately the total number of shots its taken, or is it like Canon where the manufacturer has to plug it into their computer system? Thanks. Bill
Typ 246 owner here. There's a wealth of information about these cameras out there, such as at https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leica_M_Monochrom_(Typ_246). But to summarize, these were introduced in 2015 (between the M9 and M10 when Leica lost its mind with M model numbering) and have a 24 MP CMOS sensor. Previous models used a CCD, which some prefer and some don't. In any case, this was the first generation to offer live view (using either the rear display or the optional EVF).
If there's a way to obtain shutter count, it's not publicly documented. I'm curious about mine, but not curious enough to send it in to Leica :-)
I have a 246 as well and it is a very capable B/W camera. Unless you're shooting in total darkness, there's almost no need for the M10M. Check out the comparison done by Red Dot Forum. It can hang with the M10M up to at least 12500 ISO!
The M246 images thread in the l-camera-forum is full of jaw-dropping images, and I have seen some wonderful large prints being made from this camera. Very tempted.
