Is this photo from a trip to Costa Rica or some other country? Pictures from a zoo/ bird sanctuary? These hummingbirds are certainly not native to SoCal.

Thank you very much, Jeff! They were taken in Ecuador. This sylph is a wild hummingbird and not caged. And it was not at a zoo or bird sanctuary. The location has quite a bit flower bushes that attract a lot of hummingbirds. But the most prominent one is the long-tailed sylph, which hasn't quite reached its adulthood, I was told. The tails is not quite that long, compared to a full-grown adult.
