Charlie these are superb images!
When I visited Mexico, Nogales..in the late '60's I really enjoyed myself! The food was the 1st time ever for a country bumpkin to taste real authentic cuisine. Fresh and homemade right at a local woman's front porch!
I have a few old pics of that day..need to get them loaded here.
Again well done!
Dan

I love Oaxaca City in Mexico, the city, people, food, culture. We were there only a short time but I got images I liked, met some great folks, saw interesting things, had wonderful food, and would love to return. We are so fortunate to have a vibrant Mexican and Hispanic community here in the Springs, even a Dia de Muertos celebration is planned, but it is not the same and every year around this time my heart aches. Here are some images from the streets of Oaxaca and I hope to post more images from the Day of the Dead in the next week or two.
Thanks for Looking, Charlie...Show more →
These are from the mid 1960's

Wow, Dan, these are neat, thanks for posting. I like the burro in the street, and the sign advertising divorces. I think these images have held up quite nicely. I have never been to Nogales, but I have been to Nuevo Laredo when I was stationed in Texas and camping down in Baja around San Felipe from California. Oaxaca was the first time I flew into Mexico, an easy flight from Denver to Houston and Houston to Oaxaca.

Thanks Charlie! Not quality images because I was in the military also at Ft Huachuca, AZ and only had an Instamatic. The donkey was there for rides and the box/bellows camera took the pictures. But they do bring back memories and show the progress of photography!
Thanks!
Dan

The Dia de los Muertos holiday is filled many traditions, pageants, events and parties. While November 2nd is traditionally the Day of the Dead, the celebrations can last for days before and after. The day before is sometimes called "Children’s Day" or "Day of the Little Angels" (Día de los Angelitos). Children pageants are a common event mostly managed by kinder gardens and schools where children dress up and parade around the plaza or school. Here are a few images of children in such a comparsa in Oaxaca.
Thanks for looking once again and I hope I am not over staying my welcome. There are a few more sets I want to post before November from the Dia de los Muertos in case anyone is thinking of visiting these events in the States or Mexico. Charlie

Nicely done, Charlie,
Here in Tucson we have a large Dia de Los Muertos celebration but it's become too commercial for my taste. I was raised in Mexico and one thing I never forgot were the Calaveritas de Azúcar, or sugar skulls. They were sold as trinkets though I may have tried to eat one, or two. As you know, they are not edible.

Some shots taken this past Sept., 2023 (film Aug., 2023) wandering around VA/DC. With either the M10D or M6 (w/ portra 800) and 35 cron v4 (my favorite daily walk around lens next to the voigtlander 1.4 SC!).

Here are three older images from Brussels... found them by chance while looking for something else, and I don't think I had shared them before. Two of them are from an open-air antiques market that's the longest-running one in the world, I think, and another is taken during an (annual) car-free day, often a great time to shoot street:
