Many thanks "td"! Any I have been here on campus since they placed it there!
There is a plaque to our right rear ground BUT I failed to read. I was very rushed for time. And this was yesterday!
I have passed this "emplacement" for many years BUT yet to read the sign.
I did find this in Mt St Marys history.
They were VERY famous in college basketball back in the day.

Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, features a historic 3-inch/50-caliber anti-aircraft gun on its campus.
Key Details:
• Origin: The artillery piece was given to the school in honor of its service to armed forces training programs.
• Source Ship: It came from the USS Detroit, a U.S. Navy light cruiser credited with seeing action and assisting with downed aircraft during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
