So crazy all the long ears flying around during the day in the country now. I have heard about this pair and considered flying out for them. Maybe will see you there one day...

I feel fortunate to have finally seen this species. I've always envied those photographers who find short-eared owls... guess it would eventually be my turn to find something.

I have been watching the weather and prefer to shoot in these conditions. Inclement weather tends to dissuade some shooters, offers a bit of drama, and creates the opportunity to make something a little bit different. This was my second effort during similar conditions. The first time was poor preparation on my part. In the 2nd snow storm, I was a bit more thoughtful about my AF settings.
