Finally got out for a cityscape with this lens. This is really perfect for me. I can't recall if this thread has covered much between the 70-200 S + TC 2.0 vs the 100-400 but I had a chance tonight. No contest in the corners but the 70-200 + TC held its own in the middle. I didn't test the cAF, but if it were even, I'd definitely consider the TC with the 70-200. But for my purposes (close up nature + scapes), the 100-400 is the one for me.....albeit more expensive than I would have preferred.
Curious, does anyone know how to reduce the size that's shown on this forum? It looks sharper on my website and LR and I think it's because it's being enlarged on FM.

Sunday morning sunrise...
I live in the middle of the continent where there is very little topography. While the St. Croix River offers me an opportunity to photograph reflections and small scale landscapes, access to pristine areas are very limited. Because of these limits, I celebrate foggy mornings. A foggy sunrise helps to create a bit of mood and drama in an otherwise mundane landscape.
I shot the 100-400 on the Z6ii and 500PF on the Z9. I am including the 500PF shot at the end for those interested in comparing how it renders a similar subject within a similar timeframe.

A very, VERY amateur attempt at capturing the North American nebula, this lens does a good job standing in for a telescope. There is definitely some vignetting that comes out when pushing the raw data around like this. I'm finding there is so much to learn when taking and processing this kind of photo, but very fun at the same time. Lots of patience required.
Shot on an equatorial mount, 12 x 4 minutes (plus some darks) stacked

This is such a versatile lens. Granted I'm using it on bright sunny days here, but today we took some family down to a school playground and in under an hour I was able to get lots of great kids shots with them running around and I was impressed with the z6ii cAF actually. Didn't miss a shot when they went down the slides. Also didn't miss a series of turkey vulture shots although they're more predictable and farther away. Also got a little close up to a bee for one of our kids. Loving the colours from this lens despite having the sun up high (1030am). I'm now a believer for the 100-400 for kids in a park.....they can play without me always getting their attention. Some images shown for close-ups, bokeh, cAF, etc.....to show the versatility of this lens. All taken on a Z6ii. Sorry for the photo dump
