Sustained write speed of 1480 MB/s supports consistent write performance for non-stop continuous shooting throughout the capacity of the card.

and for something completely different: Made in Austria

coming soon.

interesting to say the least.

I hope it has broader compatibility than some of their previous offerings.
Are there larger cards coming? 160GB is kind of small for the 45+ MP bodies.

what? you'll have 2 slots to play with. at this point its 160GB and that's at $179 i still will probably use just one.

they are using the Z9 as the reference tool so it looks like its aimed right at it.

my 128GB delkin is ~1.2K shots lossless compressed add the additional mem diff and it makes somewhere in the realm of ~1500 per card x2 slots

i kind of doubt ill be banging away at 20fps all that often. i already know what i'll need to dial top speed to most of the time

p.1 #4 · (UPDATE) Point of interest: Angelbird SX 160GB CFeB card

Once I shot over 5000 frames in a day with my measly 45MP camera at 12FPS mechanical shutter so that would have used two 160GB cards on rollover if it had 2x CFe slots. I prefer the 256GB cards, but might buy one of those Angelwings. The Z7 II only has the one slot and there are times that might be more sensible to use in the field than the Z9. I figure that one of each would be natural.

that just ended up creating more post work. i will say the other evening i was in NYC photographing a Awards ceremony in lower Manhattan (Chinatown). i shot a whole 611 images w/Z6 which was pretty much over the top for the end needs.

p.1 #6 · (UPDATE) Point of interest: Angelbird SX 160GB CFeB card

Read:
i received the Angelbird 160SX today and gave it the run.
Manual operation
20 FPS
lossless compressed
1/2500sec
ISO 1000
24-120/4 at 24 f4

angelbird claims i should be able to run through the card continuously due to its consistent throughput of over 1400MB/s

formatted in camera
first round 243 shots before stutter
formatted in camera
second round 156 shots before stutter
formatted in camera
third round 59 shots before stutter

from the experience this particular card fell well short

i am hoping this was just a bad card. B&H agreed with my assessment sent me a return label and are replacing the card with another

we shall see what happens with card #2 when it arrives.

Due to some confusion, and i think mainly on my part possibly, as i said above i hopefully will receive another card this week from B&H.

after reviewing the Ricci and Matt Granger card tests i am beginning to think differently on the limitations of these cards. i will also contact Angelbird about this too as to what is claimed vs what it actually means.

01/09/2022 in addition B&H is out of stock already so i have taken a refund and will try again later.

You were able to get 243 shots before stutter on a Z9 at 20FPS in Lossless Compressed? I haven't seen anyone report more than 82 shots with those settings on the other top end cards (Delkin Black and Prograde Cobalt).

Do you have an idea as to why you got less and less shots every try?

I will be interested to read how your 2nd card behaves.

According to angelbird there should be consistent throughput and that card was a bit lacking so it has gone back. I will have another in a day or so. The SX is a new card that is supposedly based around the Z9 capabilities. Their distributor is fairly near to me. I’m starting from scratch with the new one. To make sure I didn’t screw up. Nobodies perfect all of the time🤪

Note their chart.

Like I’ve said elsewhere here the CFe marketplace is quite interesting when it comes to consistency.

So it's not designed for Canon also? That seems quite odd. Sustained 8K video performance is the key capability for the 2020s and the R5C is coming soon, not to mention other bodies on the roadmap.

It is designed around the moving of data. No proprietary stuff. They say they used the Z9 as @ reference. It worked in my Z6, D850, D500 just fine within their capabilities. It’d not product specific. That would be limiting sales and just plain dumb.

It not a good idea to design a card that works on one camera

CFe cards are just starting to flex there muscles more to come.

I’m just finding out if this one works well.

I surely hope so. If they work out the bugs I will be in on the 320GB card.

I'm a fan of their UHS II SD cards and the USB-C reader. The cards I have are made in Taiwan, the reader in Austria.
After months of near daily use I've had no issues and very fast performance in the camera and on the desktop.

GL and look forward to hearing how this turns out.

i received the second 160sx card about 2 hrs ago. formatted the card and set everything to manual and high speed. this time after 3 complete tries i got 62ish frames before stutter each time. still well short of all the tech they threw out. i am just a little disappointed to say the least. sorry about this but i was working with their info and thought i found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow

its already on its way back

Thanks for the update.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how you ever got 243 or 156 shots during your first tests? No card I've read about gets past ~82 on Lossless Compressed RAW @20FPS.

Did you have something set differently like FPS or were in HE* (camera default) ?

Oh yeah, no head wrapping required. just duh on my part. i was mucking around with all the values and thought i had them reset but did the duh and had it in HE if i remember correctly. this is the reason why i started from scratch.

i have just ordered up a Promaster 128 (made by Delkin) to see how truthful they are.

like i said CFe is turning into infowars. lots of claims that are challenged

FWIW, this post on BCG Forums says he is getting ~80 shots with the 160GB SX card on the Z9??

I can only say that I did it multiple times LL compressed in full manual at 20fps. That eliminates the variables that I can see except one and that is human reaction time. I do try to take in account the overshoot frames that I can at first stutter.

Addendum:
just got the Promaster Velocity Cine 128GB and performed the identical test using the same setup. the results were within a margin of error identical to the Delkin Power 128GB (Hmm, i wonder why?) at an average of 80 shots before first stutter

I guess the different label didn't slow it down (or speed it up)

not at all

referencing Matt Granger testing of a bunch of cards

he tested the Delkin Black 128GB in lossless 20fps and get 80fr before first stutter. i got the same out of the promaster branded 128GB and carry the same warranty is the original Delkin

from his chart:
Delkin Black 128gb:
https://geni.us/jg5ZZS2
https://bhpho.to/3bDzp6Y
20fps
LossLess 80
HI* 260
HI 382

LL12fps unlimited
LL15fps unlimited
Third fastest CFeB tested so far
