Sure, if you show up on my doorstep I can take you to some local haunts.
The middle of winter is, for the most part, not to lively up here in the great white north.
This is the first year that I heard about the long eared owls. About 80 miles away are some short eared owls
that many people have gotten photos of. I only made the trip once. I got a few shots, but nothing great.
You'd need the 600mm with a 2x tc to have a chance as those.
I know where there are 3 great horned owl nests, but January is a little early for them.
I know where there are 3 barred owl nests, and 2 screech owl nests.
The screech owls, you just have to be lucky that they decide to pop up when you're there.
I could get you some trumpeter swans and we may have to drive, but we would find some eagles (dozens)
somewhere along the river.
You may even get a shot of the snowy that hangs around by the airport on the FedEx building.
I think the LEO's are about done. It seems like the numbers have dropped quite a bit in the last week.
Drove about 50 miles today and watched 30-40 eagles fly over hundreds of ducks and steal their shads.
We could probably find a few things to shoot.
Wind was from the north, if it would have been from the south, these birds would have been coming at me.
It's hard to believe people are getting these wildlife shots. Specifically BIF's. That comes from watching Dustin Abbotts new review of the A7IV. Without any samples he claimed the A7IV is not for wildlife. Granted it's cold in Canada. But that's a strong statement to make without showing us why.
I love his reviews and highly respect him and his reviews. But this one was strange. And the exposure comp dial comment was confusing.

Buffleheads from nearby ponds. Shooting with APS-C mode mostly as I can't go from the levee/trail nearer to the subjects. The higher MP A1 would be nice for cropping purposes but the price is an outright rejection from the wife. The A7RIV would be a cropping king but I need to test/rent it out for BIF next time. For now, I am getting comfortable with the A7IV BIF performance.
