I just received my Canon R5 from a Greentoe purchase for only $3,400. All of their retailers are Canon authorized (well, authorized for whatever you are buying in that case). Does GT let you bundle your bids with multiple quantities? For example, put a bid in for a batch of 3 lenses or multiple bodies? Or, is it just one bid at a time?

For anyone new to green toe that might stumble upon this thread in the future…. green toe is a legitimate source to buy your electronics. The items will come from authorized dealers and the price you get includes tax.
Cardinal Camera is a frequent vendor on GT. Some of us (but certainly not all) have had issues with that business and I have asked GT not to seek bids from them. GT asks buyers not to disclose the source of their successful purchases so I am simply trying not to put you on the spot.

Oh, I see exactly what you were asking. Of course, I simply cannot confirm nor deny it. I can say, I think that I'm well pleased. The camera appeared brand new in box, although there is one thing I'm unsure of. It's been so long since I've purchased a brand new body, the LP-E6NH had no charge when I pulled it from the box. After charging, it fired right up.

I don't think there is an official function to do this but there is a way to create a note for each offer. It would actually be really interesting to go in there, create an offer for say a body but leave a note for "I will be purchasing two of these and would like both of them at this price per unit" or something like that. It may work but would be moreso on the retailer to notice and honor.
One more thing, oftentimes I suspect once you find a retailer that would be willing to shave a good 10% or more off MSRP via Greentoe, you could likely call them up directly tell them what you want to buy, and ask them what their best price would be. Realistically, I'm sure Greentoe somehow gets a cut per sale so if you go to the retailer directly in the future they may be able to go a little bit cheaper.

What problems did you have with that camera store?
This thread talks about Hunts and Cardinal as less than desirable dealers in Greentoes network, also factor Greentoe chooses to partner with them, which speaks volumes. Grant you some have no issues going/dealing through Greentoe, others do.. My take its a 50/50 crap shoot.
To further emphasize my above pondering, is it normal/somewhat normal for a new Canon body to have a dead (as in, the power wouldn't even turn on) battery from the factory? It's been so long since I've received a new body that I don't remember.
I used ShutterCount on iOS to get a shutter reading before I used it, it reported "Less than 1,000". I understand that it is more difficult/impossible to get an exact shutter count on these newer bodies?

I've had great success with Greentoe over the years. I cannot recall ever having an actual issue regarding what I've received, communication, shipping, etc.
That said, to be completely unbiased, I have had issues with Amazon over the years. Others have had issues with Adorama and BH, although I personally haven't.
I have mixed opinions regarding this topic. On one hand, when a retailer literally fulfills hundreds of orders a week, there are bound to be accidents/mix-ups. That said, how a retailer responds to such an issue speaks volumes. I've read some of the horror stories regarding customer service for some of the Greentoe retailers.
It really just depends on what is important. As long as I don't need gear immediately (BH/Adorama/Amazon are top notch in shipping speeds typically), use a protected payment source (PayPal or Credit Card), and keep an eye out for shady practices, sometimes I don't mind taking a bit longer to get something if it saves a considerable amount. The bottom line is that as the buyer you can probably get any issue "made right" via credit card or PayPal, and that's if Greentoe themselves do not step in.
Alternatively, I also completely understand why some would avoid the potential for a hassle.

I've never had a completely dead battery with a new or refurbished Canon camera. Just guessing--your camera has either been sitting in stock a very long time (that would be unusual for a popular camera) or it is "used" in some fashion. Either a Demo or Returned item. Look closely at the body for any signs of use or wear. Even tiny dings or paint scrapes. New Canon cameras have essentially flawless body finishes.

I just bought two new LP-E6NH batteries from my local camera store. I didn't check charge by putting them in the camera first, I just threw them on chargers as soon as I took them out of the box. The chargers were just blinking one dot at first, so they must have been pretty low charge.
I've had good success with GT over the years, but nobody is perfect, not even B&H...it is a question of how vendors react to issues that really shows what they are made of imo.. $3400 is an amazing price for a NIB USA model R5, well done! Maybe that portends an R5II coming up next year (I hope)...

My brand new R5 and my R6 which I purchased new both came with completely exhausted batteries. I believe my first RP did as well. My current RP did not, but that's because I bought it used from KEH.
