Do the embera women wear those Portaguese hats I see in some of your posts? Or is that style "reserved"( wrong use of the word) for a certain portion of the population?
Thanks for raising an interesting point. Firstly, no the embera don't. I think you are referring to the derbys worn by women in some of my pictures. The first railroad workers in Peru were Scotts in the 1850s who of course wore derbys, The Quechua Indians fell in love with those hats for some reason and thay are now the fashion for many Indian communities in northern South America.
