p.1 #1 · Remote trigger setup

This setup works nicely for using HSS with a remote trigger. I was going to get the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II transmitter, but they’ve been out of stock for a while. I picked up an X2T instead and realized I like the additional cold shoe for mounting the trigger receiver. Otherwise, I’d have to let it hang or get a cage. Remote is Aodelan Pebble system.

That "Cold shoe" on the Godox X2T is really a "hot Shoe". You can use it that way, but when I was converting from my old flash wireless system to Godox, I stacked the old flash transmitter on top of the X2T and used both my old lights as well as new Godox and Flashpoint lights at the same time. I did this until I could afford buying the additional lights and completely phasing out the old. The X2T is one of the great things that helped me switch to Godox/Flashpoint. Now completely switched, both studio and field, I am very happy with the transition and I'm not looking back. It was expensive, but my old lights and transmitter were becoming a maintenance problem. I'm glad they are gone. When using a wireless trigger, I have a handle that attaches to the tripod bolt under the camera and it has two cold shoes on it to use. Both ways work. Like you, I don't like things dangling from their wires.

Thanks for pointing out the hot shoe capability. If the shutter cable gets in the way, I may move the receiver to a clamp mount on the tripod. That’s good advice.

There is also this option as a legacy trigger.

There is also a detailed write up of its functionality here.

@Spacegohst,

A wireless shutter trigger is far better than a wired remote trigger or even an external wireless receiver that needs to be plugged into the camera. The one that's usually available from your camera manufacturer is likely Bluetooth and works well with nothing external to hang from the camera. Mine, for my Canon camera, fits in the palm of my hand, and the Bluetooth receiver is built into the camera, so I can even do selfies without it showing, and nothing hangs on the outside of the camera except the flash control transceiver.
