I've tried for this little guy/gal for a couple years in flight. Never got anything worthwhile. I won't give all the credit to the A1 because I also had a somewhat repeatable pattern of hunting flights this time around so I didn't have to hold up a camera for hours on end hoping for it to fly as I've tried in the past (and always missed or lowered the camera right before he flew). But the A1's uncanny AF for quick acquisition and consistency during a burst certainly helped over previous cameras I've tried with.
The light was not on my side...this location is best in cloudy bright conditions as you can't get sun behind you most of the morning unless you learn how to hover

Another stunning set. A lot of great captures there but I love the spotlight moodiness in that 7th image. Really great work, nicely done!

Hard to pick a favorite in this collection, Geoff.
Must take you forever to cull images with all the keepers! 😉

Always a great feeling to get the pygmy owl in flight. Well done Geoff.
The a1 definitely had a part to play for sure.
Thanks Pius...no doubt the A1 was part of the success...
