p.3 #1 · Your Gem Lens Non-L would be???

Actually you're right on both accounts.
My widest is actually my 18-55, the kit lens.
It's safer for me to get ideas on non-L lenses because once I start reading the testimonials on L lenses my financial advisor goes berserk!

It is great he/she goes bersek: then you are free to do what you want
When I see your list of lenses, I think you do not really need more anyway. Or swap your kit or you 28-135&28-105 for a really good one (like a 24-70 L or third party).

I'm not actively looking for a lens, I just like to read ideas about lenses I may or may not have.
It's all about the glass

I always liked my 50/1.8, but then I got the 50/1.4, and its my new favorite lens.

I did also enjoy using my 28/2.8 all this morning at the car show...

I *heart* this lens.

Maybe a silly question, but have you compared it with the 50/1.8 at something like landscapes, far distance at least? I would expect a macro lens to shine at close distance (but most lenses also do better from close, so that's not really exceptional) but I'm interested in how it does in other areas

Ontopic: that would be the 10-22 (which I don't have yet but will soon), the 28-70/3.5-4.5 Mk II (discontinued but has a reputation as being very sharp, haven't given it a proper workout since I just got it) and the 85/1.8 (will have this lens too one day, maybe soon).

Based on your wording, this would be Canon brand, non-L glass, correct? Either way, it would be my 10-22mm EF-S. That lens is definitely a favorite of mine.

I had a 50/1.8 (mk2) before the getting the 50/2.5, and kept it for about 6 or 9 months before selling it due to lack of use.

Landscapes, however, are handled by the 17-40 or 24-70 in my lens bag. I took a couple with the 50/1.8 but it's not really a focal length that lends itself well to that type of shooting for me.

Brooke I agree on the 100 Macro, by the way I want to put a picture of me like the one you have. How do I put one in of me?

I'll have to say the 100f2.5 Macro..........I cannot believe how sharp this 'gem ' is and how inexpensive compared to my 135F2! Here is a sample showing how versatile this baby is at, well shooting babies!! (my daughter Julia)

Canon FD50/3.5 (with glass-less FD-EOS macro adapter). I wonder if the EF50/2.5 can be better (macro distance of-course)?

I now have three beautiful little gems: the 85/1.8 (still my all-time favorite), the 50/1.4, and the 135/2.8 SF. Love 'em all.

This one:

It is my eBay shooter. It cost less than a filter for the "L" lens. ()

Dan, that's a cool lens!
Thouse, nice shot with the macro, although I think your subject is what makes the photo!
