So, has anyone found a good source for sample images? From the few I've seen, it seems to draw very nicely. More like the GF 63 and 110 than the 80, but still with a softer transition than those two. Possibly a bit boring, but I rather take that than jittery bokeh.

There are some 55 samples in the B&H video about the 100S II. Rendering looks really nice similar to the Sigma 35 1.2 Art.
I found more 55 images from watching the 100S II videos than looking for lens-specific reviews.
Wrong focal length for me. I want a fast standard/normal lens, and 55 mm will be absolutely perfect since I find even 63 mm a bit too long for my liking.
Looks great to me! Smooth transition and still very calm bokeh.
Ooh man, I planned to stick with 45mm/2.8 but these images might just change my opinion. I like how nice separation looks without killing background to the point beyond recognition.
Will probably sell the 50 3.5, keep the 35-70 as a walkaround and add the 55 1.7 used down the line. No rush - really happy with the 80 1.7 and rarely use the 110 as magical as it is.
I tried the 55/1.7 very briefly at the Fujikina event in Stockholm, Sweden. This lens, coupled to the new GFX camera, is huge, bigger than it looks in some images. Focus speed seemed adequate if not lightning fast. It's weird to see my home town Stockholm in the sample shots at the photographyblog.com.

What is your reference? It seems to be the exact same size and weight as the GF 80, which while a tad large, isn't "huge" in my opinion.
But yes, large enough not to be a "walkaround" lens, unfortunately. I'll keep the 35-70 for that.
Edit: The GFX 100 II is a fair bit larger than the 100S and 50S II too, so that might have influenced your experience...

The worst part of 80mm is a lens hood. Hopefully, 55mm will be very popular and Haoge will make a nice metal rectangle lens hood for it!

Same here. Maybe I should sell the 110mm f2 as 45-100mm covers my studio needs.

Most GF lenses hoods are crap, especially 250mm f4.

I ended up swapping the 45-100 for the FE Mount 35-150 F2 2.8. Since the GFX is now pretty much landscape for me I’m sticking with the GF 100-200. Nice and light and sharp enough for me.
I just know if I sold the 110 I’d find a reason to use it and miss it.

Yeah, the hood for the 80 is enormous. I only use it if I shoot in rain. Otherwise I leave it at home and shield the lens with my hand when needed. And I always put the lid back on between every shot to protect the front lens element.

It is very silly, but I almost gave up on 45/2.8 because of its terrible lens hood (I always use them). But then I found a hood from Haoge, and it completely changed my opinion about this lens. It is not only a great lens, it looks great too now.
