I know the lens is great, so no offense to those who have it and love it. I get it. I just couldn't get along with it.

It works better with the GFX100S II than with the GFX50S II. It’s possible I just got used to it because I shoot with it most of the time, but I don’t really notice anything weird with the GF55. The GF80 does have issues with both cameras, though.

Ahhh... okay, that's good to know. That's what I was asking from the beginning (whether it works better on the 100SII vs 50sII). Thanks.

Dear Peter
Unfortunately I can confirm that this also happens with the gfx100sii
When focusing manually with the back focus button, when you press the shutter button, which isn't paired with autofocus, the focus shifts slightly back and forth for no reason (as far as I know).
This makes taking pictures with this 55 an unsatisfactory experience.
I'm obviously not referring to the image quality, which I really like.
I'll add another thing that bothers me.
Always in manual focus, when I zoom in by pressing the rear wheel and focus on a small area of the image with the back focus button, I can't exit the zoom by half-pressing the shutter button.
This happened with other Fuji GFX cameras, but for some reason I can't do it anymore with the new GFX100SII.
It's a shame because in my opinion, it takes away the immediacy I was used to with the GFX50S.
Please let me know if there's a setting that allows you to exit zoom with half-press, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you kindly Maribe for confirming the focus-shifting behaviour, even in manual mode. I am not sure why the lens needs to behave this way.
As for your second point, I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I currently shoot only with a Mitakon 65 on my 100sii. I usually just compose the shot, press the rear wheel dial to zoom in, manually focus, and then immediately take the shot so I don't lose focus (since the DOF of the Mitakon is very thin at f/1.4). I hope someone else who knows more than me can help you.

The width of the G mount might be too wide to work on a Z body without hitting or blocking the lens release button. It's 10mm wider, so 5mm on all sides. That might barely clear the buttons on the Z8/9, but I think it would hit the overhang above the lens on the Zf.
I certainly wouldn't waste the 55/1.7 on my Zf
I can't imagine they'd sell the adapter if the dimensions didn't work out, but I'm sure it's a case by case basis. I'm going to see if B&H will loan me both.
I was dreaming of a baby sister 35/1.7 or 1.4 for the 55. Fuji could take on the challenge of a world class 35mm that is so good that Nikon FF people adapt it and swear its the best 35mm lens in any format. That's a tall order but a man can dream!
This would basically be a GF 18 1.4 right? Because I've been asking for that lens for probably 2 years now. SGinNorcal wrote:

I was referring to 35mm focal length in a G mount. I often shoot my 20-35 @ 35 and its a great lens. But I want a fast prime version too along the lines of the 55. 1.7 or 1.4 works for me.
I think this is where focal length conversion gets annoying. So basically you want 35mm in GFX, which is like 28mm in full frame, which is basically 18ish mm on X mount? If so we're basically asking for the same thing. SGinNorcal wrote:

Ok, I'm following you, and yes that's what I want. Its no surprise that I also love the XF18/1.4 for X system.
Yeah that 18 1.4 does a lot. Whether I'm supposed to you it or not for portrait work I still do, it's just that good for some intimate environmental portraits. It's one of the most lacking things on GFX...that and a good 105/135mm equivalent, but that lens would be probably too big. SGinNorcal wrote:

I have a Contax 140/2.8 645 lens adapted to my Gfx and love it. It not that big, even with a Fringer on it. Its smaller than the Gf110/f2 and it covers 645 film. A 140mm f2 Gf lens would be great or even a little longer if they want to split the gap between 110 and 250. I wish Fuji would give us a new road map.
A part of me doesn't even think Fuji knows what to do with this mount SGinNorcal wrote:
