Actually there are female sadhu's ( holy men ) and they lead the same lifestyle as their male counterparts but cover their bodies with a yellow wrap even when bathing in the Ganges.
I was amazed that on the Ganges women (non-holy ones) go in, get out and can change into dry clothes without exposing their bodies any more than normal. It is quite a technique to remove underlying wet garments while draped under dry ones.
Amazing photo and the follow-up image, too. Where in India was this shot? I was in Varanasi in 2013; lots of people during evening puja but not in the morning.

Thanks for sharing.
The Kumb Mela was held at Prayagraj which is about 100km away from Varanasi. I did go to Varanasi after the festival and it was packed with Pilgrims either heading to or returning from the Kumb. It was very busy all day including in the morning before it was even light out. Many people were taking their Ganges dunks first thing in the morning.
