I did not refocus.
Anyhow 100% perfection is not part of this game.
If you look for better focus shift I think you should put your eyes on something else.
Here you take the worst case of 61 mpx images at 2.8.
I’m quite sure no lens, as Roger Cicala explains, can do a perfect job here.
I’m really convinced you are going to test more and more lenses without success.
But admitting you are so lucky, what is the added value?
Cheers!

Hey, if you are happy with your lens then good for you.

I always test my lenses in this way (and so do many FM'lers). I often get a good copy at the first try and have always managed to get a good one at the 2nd or 3rd attempt. Mind you I am not talking about perfection. I can accept slight decentering issues or soft corners, but not something that will be clearly visible when I take landscape photos.

My other two copies of the 90i have arrived and I finally got a good one!

Interestingly, on one of the two lenses there was a large piece of dust inside the glass (something that probably doesn't affect IQ but will affect resell value).

So in summary: 3 out of the 4 samples that I got had issues. So far this is the worst score of any lens that I've tested.

Please post some comparison of what you consider a good one.
Possibly corner to corner, 61 mix at 2.8.
Thanks.

I only have a 24MP A7III and have already shown samples in previous posts where you see the difference in sharpness. On the good copy there is no noticeable difference in sharpness when you flip the camera upside-down.

I've also noticed more chromatic aberrations in landscape photos (focus close to infinity) on the decentered lenses.

But I'm not here to debate whether or not it is worth sampling several copies to get a good one. Everyone can decide on his/her own

You are right.
But please post a FF image also at 24 max of what you consider ok.
If you have time, of course.
Just to share.

I got my 2nd copy of the Sigma 90mm. Unfortunately it also appears to be slightly decentered (although not as bad as the first copy). Serial number: 557788xx

Did any of you guys actually manage to get a well-centered copy?

I just received my copy yesterday and did a decentering test. Mine is quite good and I'm very satisfied!

Thanks.

May be the crops you posted about the pictures I attached are a little bit misleading?
Isn't that you inverted the pictures in your comparison?
When I compare I see this:

3075 (the one with camera not reversed) is better at both sides.

Good evening.

Nothing particularly great here but a chance to take some shots while on a dog walk with the 90/2.8 on the Leica SL2-S

Very nice rendering and bokeh. Typical of Sigma i lenses.

Lovely photos, and the lens renders beautifully. In these, I would say it is a match for the 45/2.8.

Fred, How do you think the Sigma 24mm f2 compares to the Loxia 25mm for landscape shooting (just off the top of your head, no field comparisons expected). Thanks.

Just bought a 24 3.5 to match with the 45 and 90.
For a compact HQ kit for travel.
