That would've been the perfect time to just show what the AF system was doing, but nope they gotta tease, don't ask me why, but Nikon acting like this is a burlesque show and don't want to show the goods.

Lots of pent up frustration in the Nikon community for sure. But that is understandable. Hopefully most of us can have conversations about the technology and not get too emotional about it.

All the manufacturers do it. No big deal. It is a tease not a demo.
I know, I just really want to see what the AF boxes do in this camera. If they consistently stick on the subject and don't just spaz out is all I'm really interested in. Also they need to show the eye detect on the 50 1.2. That's like the true test since I know it's not consistent on that lens by any metric (it's like it works when I'm not expecting it to and off when I'm expecting it to work). 1bwana1 wrote:

Not a lot to discern from teaser 4 but I guess now we see what other info comes out in the last day before the official livestream. I wouldn't be surprised if NR get it all out there first.

I don't think Nikon will show us what the boxes do (other than more post-production simulations). I think the first person to do that will be Ricci as I'm sure he has the camera and he does often show EVF recordings. I'm not sure if Nikon will have provided all the YT reviewers with Z9s already? I can't recall if they have been doing that or not with recent releases?

I am thinking only very controlled Nikon insiders tomorrow. My sense is that firmware is not really ready for wider distribution yet. Still a couple of months of development available before shipping.
Only thing I can gather is maybe they wanna show a blackout free finder?
It zooms into the EVF, then you hear the shutter fire without blackout.
Then you see a side by side, assuming showing real life and what you see in the EVF and the shutter fires again without blackout.

Bird eye focus was already implemented in fw 0.8 . The main question is whether Nikon still needed to improve it further or how good is it?

Exactly.
But not just blackout free, slideshow (frame insertion) free.
Blackout free means little. R5 is blackout free but still degraded by slideshow. Z9 of course will be blackout and slideshow free like A9,A1 and R3.

Very good Bird Eye AF will be in the first release. My big question is how the options and work flow of the Nikon AI assisted AF and tracking has been implemented. Is it more straight forward and effecient in Nikons new Real Time Tracking implementation.
