Hmm, that's actually a 2nd review to mention that then...
The previous one (I think it was Matt Granger) said that a "suction" sound comes from around the mount when zooming.

That problem is blown out of proportion by some.

I have 4 excellent manual zooms with push-pull mechanism from the 80s - about 35 years old.

None of them has a "dust problem". Why should a lens from 2021 have it?

I'm not saying it does... just pointing out this "suction" sound has been observed.
This might mean nothing or be simply related to copy variation, but we don't know much about the lens yet and this is pretty uncommon.

Indeed, that's a good point.

I called my dealer today and he confirmed my lens will arrive on time - 25th as it was promised. So yeah... 5 days left.

My dealer in Germany said it’s still 29th here. But he couldn’t say whether they will really be here in time due to all the chaos on the market right now. Furthermore, he couldn’t say how many copies he will receive with the first shipment. I am in 7th position on the preorder list, so it might well be that I won’t be one of the lucky ones in the beginning…

But it seems to work out for you

Dustin Abbott also plans to replace his Tamron 28-75 and 70-180 with the new 35-150 Tamron, if it delivers.

Btw. He cherishes a lot of the lenses that I think are really unique. Thus he pretty much bucks the trend of forums like this one here. His private kit mostly consists of Samyang and Tamron lenses.

I broke down and picked up a used 70-180 since it's available now. Looking forward to seeing some images from this one to see if it might be worth switching in the future.

I suppose that the 70-180 will have smoother bokeh. At least from what I saw so far. However, the 35-150mm is much more versatile because of its different focal length. I might also trade in my 70-180mm Tamron.

Sounds like a winner. Tamron seems to have absolutely nailed it with this lens. At least if other reviewers confirm his findings. What the reviewer emphasizes as really impressing: its autofocus reliability when shooting photos. In combination with his camera better than the 70-180mm 2.8. And for people making videos it seems to be a dream because of its parfocal function. Lots of praise. Maybe a bit too euphoric for me (best lens he tested in 2021etc.) But we will see. I‘m waiting for Dustin Abbott

Btw. He got this lens from Tamron about 3 weeks ago… just mentioning because there were some conspiracy theories spread here in this thread.

He also mentions as highlights: Very flat field; nearly zero CA; really neat programmability of function buttons and focus ring; NO focus breathing.

Minus: MFD a bit long.

Missing in his review: infinity distance shooting (i.e. landscape photography suitability).

Seems to be a really interesting lens!

Yeah, Dustin is going to review it in near future - my sources tell me .

I'd have aleady bought the lens probably it it were not for the shortage, even without his review though ...
On the other hand, it might be a good thing, as I try to keep to my resolution not to buy lenses I absolutely don't need any more...

I highly doubt it will suck in any more dust than the Sigma 24-70 already does. Mind you, my understanding is that Sigma may have fixed that problem - I just haven’t sent mine in under warranty yet.

Overall this lens looks like it could potentially be a phenomenal lens and provide a two lens solution with the 16-35GM. My only growing concern at this point is lens flare/ghosting. I could see that ruin many a landscape shot. I’m not particularly pleased with the flare/ghosting in the 100-400GM or the 24-70, so while I’ll keep my preorder in order to compare myself, I’m starting to think I may have to stay with a 3 lens zoom kit and invest in the new GM glass (24-70II surely will be announced soon) that appear to handle flare beautifully.

Yes, as I understood that's why the "Schießstand" reviewer said that it might not be first choice for landscape photographers.
In any case it could be ideal for people/portrait/event photography.

But he also said in combination with the 16-35 it's a two lens solution that doesn't really compromise much on quality. If you ad a 150-400 or so, you cover a huge range with only three lenses.

I'm looking forward to seeing Dustin Abbotts test. Any indications who long it might take for him to publish his review (secret sources? )

Watched Matt Granger's review of the lens. After Tony Northrup's review of 70-180/2.8 vs new Sony 70-200 Version two, which showed surprisingly poor hit rate on his A1 for 70-180 as compared to both Sony 70-200 Version 1 and Version 2, a lot of people asked Granger (who normally shoots just portraits of people standing) to test 35-150/2-2.8 for moving objects. He had his models walk (not run, walk) toward the camera and 35-150 had a lot of CAF misses, more than 70-180/2.8 that he was comparing it to. Perhaps these issues could be cured by Firmware. Or not. I was at one point excited about this lens upon hearing about it. However, I did not pre-order it blindly just based on specs. Looks from reviews so far that image quality stands up, and if you shoot stationary or slowly moving subjects, it may be acceptable. For anything that moves fast forget about it.

A model walking towards you is not a fast moving subject. How about AF in dim light where a lens like this might be used...does it miss as well?

It sounds like it misses focus on moving subject. Does it also struggle in low light?
