I really fail to understand why you try so hard here to push your dissatisfaction with this lens / price.

I'm pretty sure we all got your point, you think its not gonna be good enough to justify the price. It's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

However almost all of us here think otherwise. If the IQ quality is on lets say T70-180 level we all feel this will be a great lens for us and the price is right.

As for AF it's the same as on T70-180 which is expected since it got the same AF module (VXD).

You can fix the amount of bokeh in post, not the quality of it. Huge difference. This is just your typical zoom bokeh quality. Again, I expect a much higher quality for a $2k lens. Certainly wont be replacing any faster aperture primes that render much better.

Hmm, even recently I was playing around with 135GM and 65CV shots, both of which are not known for buttery rendering, and I was able to make the background quite smooth (i.e. reduce bokeh ball edges significantly). Without advanced stuff like photoshop, just a couple of sliders. That's increase of quality, not quantity to me.
Anyways, this is off-topic and you start to sound like an old troll (Sony too small, lens too big ) that keeps visiting us .

This is an interesting lens (to me) and I'm guessing it will be a hit, even with the price tag. The variable aperture is a nonissue IMO, plenty of F/2.8 zooms in the market. Having F/2.0 on the wide end is going to be a bonus.

This was posted yesterday... about 1 min into it, he tests the AF from near to far...

Around 3:40 you see some stills.

It's really quite puzzling how there aren't any big Western reviews for this yet. For their signature and high price optic, shouldn't they try to get it in people's hands to drum up excitement? The launch of this lens has been quite strange so far.

It's really simple. All reviewers sign NDA and for this lens it didn't expire yet. The date is set and all the western reviews (YT etc) will go live as always - on the same day. Very soon.

As far as im aware till NDA is lifted you can only do a preview of the lens and everything has to be agreed with Tamron before.

The 28-75 was announced in April 2018 but YouTube didn't get their hands on it for 5-6 weeks later, or at least couldn't publish until then.

The 17-28 was a strange one in that we got a development announcement at the beginning of the year and then a price announcement a month before its launch Aug 2019. YouTubers started publishing review in the 3rd week of August after pre-orders had gone live.

The 70-180 was announced in the first week of April last year, and review started going up 2 weeks or so later.

So I don't see cause for concern. Looks like business as usual for Tamron.

Images with the model in that video made me glad I purchased this lens. This is going to replace a lot of my lenses and go to general purpose lens for photos and video.

Most likely because Tamron is aware its a sub par lens, especially at its $2k price point. So only a few of their trusted employees who will speak highly of it get one. I personally know several of the top gear review photographers on Youtube and none have gotten one yet where normally they would have by now. A couple have the new 28-75 G2 but Tamron keeps putting them off on the 35-150.. They probably want as many preorders as they can get before the real reviews come out.

The 70-180 was released May 14th.

Manny Ortiz had his review up a full momth before release on April 14th
DPR had their review up April 25th
Jared Polin had his review up on May 1st

Tamron seems to be intentionally keeping the 35-150 from the top reviewers on YouTube who should have had it weeks ago. Most already have the 28-75 G2 but Tamron wont send them the 35-150.

That must be it...your wisdom is astounding.

I assume this is tongue in cheek? Part of me thinks it is, but part of me thinks you are being serious.

So which is it?

Then cite your sources that Tamron is intentionally keeping the 35-150 from reviewers.

And the post that I originally commented on borders on silly.

Demand is far exceeding supply it seems. (I'm having deja vu to the original 28-75)

The reasons behind such "strange" behavior are on the surface:
1. As Japanese company, Tamron is hugely devoted for promotion of Japan culture. By releasing first reviews in their own language Tamron pushing us into learning Japanese.
2. This particular lens is soooo unbelievably nice that Tamron is worried for us not to be blinded by it's beauty. Considering 35150 as Everest of all lensed ever created, Tamron use acclimatisation techniques aquired from high altitude mountaineering, slowly preparing us for full release of The Lens.

)))))))))))

What is 'released'?

Tamron have all of their announcement press releases on thir website fam. They announce the lens, then weeks later we start seeing reviews. You must be green.

I just want to know how the 28-75's OOF rendering has (or has not) been improved. Tamron's press release says smooth OOF rendering. I'm happy to see the price set at 899.00 as I was worried it would creep up to 1k or more. Just waitin on those reviews....

I preordered mine a couple of days ago. I hope I‘m not affected by the shortage.
Weight shouldn‘t be an issue for portrait shootings. If you use a Sigma 135mm 1.8 for example, it‘s equal in weight and quite common.
I even have the Sigma 105 1.4 and even though it IS heavy, it is okay for portrait shootings if you don‘t take it with you for spontaneous shootings but for planned shootings.

With that being said, I‘m not sure how good it qualifies as a travel lens. Again, for planed shootings on a journey I have no problems with the weight. However, as a walk around lens for casual shootings it might be to heavy.

What I‘m concerned of is size. Hard to explain but size to me often is of more concern than weight. Event though both interact.

BTW. In Germany some stores switched from “available at the end of October“ to “in 2 weeks“.

Ok. Well they announced this lens back on Aug 5th, it’s now Oct 5th…where are all the reviews?

The 18-300 was announced Aug 26th, a full 3 weeks after the 35-150, and there are reviews all over Youtube. It would seem Tamron are hiding the 35-150 from reviewers. Question is why?

Ah yes, the old “demand has exceeded supply” nonsense used by every camera and lens company. No, it hasn’t. This is a page out of Apples playbook to try and create hype and make people preorder 🙄
