John..just a wonderful composition! The skin does have a sheen to it but her beauty and your placement of her in the frame doesn't really distract from the image to me!

Thanks Dan...fun working on this image..def a little different but both I and the model were pleased with the result.
Nice composition, but overly processed, the edit destroyed most of what I would like.
Sorry, but this current trend of over processing, creating unrealistic renderings does not appeal to me.
I would like to see the original, unprocessed image.

Thank you but I don’t try to process to reflect reality, process to reflect the feel I had at the time. Both the model and her mother loved the shot and treatment, that is what matters.

I have to agree with BrainC although not quite to the extent, and, I have to disagree with you. It isn't "all that matters" that a client likes a photo; that does not mean it's a good photo, especially when posted up on a photography forum. I've seen clients who don't know much like stuff that was total garbage because they don't know any better. If a client "likes" a photo that's OOF, centrally centered, poor lighting etc, sure doesn't mean it's a good photo...
Oh, and you're welcome "for looking." Hopefully you take this feedback and actually improve, and loose a little of the attitude imho... I think that's what posting stuff on photography forums is about, afterall; improving. Too many thin-skinned people around here!
Processing is very subjective thing. Processing can along with composition and many other things become part of a personal way of seeing to quote Weston. It may not be my cup of tea but who am I to tell anyone else what they should create?

Yes, but people don't have to like it...and that is what they are saying...I DON"T LIKE IT.
AGreed, it's too much for sure; the OP seems to "disagree" with everyone else on here and imho, tbh, is blowing them off because "the client likes it" smh, as opposed taking the correct feedback and simply going back and making some adjustments toward a more natural, realistic looking skin. Imho her skin looks very bizarre, like you said kind of like a mannequin... weird.
and is well within his right to do. it looks more art than photo. nothing wrong with at if that works for you. i find it simply works on a artistic level.

Absolutely agreed. And the OP is being quite civil when it comes to standing their ground. Can't say the same about some of the commenters though. Just because someone has an opinion about someone else's processing doesn't mean the person receiving the feedback needs to go back and change what they've done to their own work to please the critics.

You're completely in the right for doing so as you prefer, and for standing up for your artistic choices. That said, there are bullies in this forum that are better left ignored.

My comments were not "bullying", he posted a picture and I gave my feedback.
The other so called bullies were responding to his reply that he and his clients liked it and that is all that mattered. Calling them bullies was out of line. That is the problem with too many people, as soon as someone doesn't like what they like, they call that person is a bully, or racist, or xxxxx.
No one was bullying him. People who don't like it are entitled to their opinion and feedback, just as his client is entitled to like it or not like it.

Taking criticism without getting your panties in a wad is part of life and a sign of maturity.

I never called you a bully nor did I call you racist, nor did I say that leaving feedback was bullying. My comments were not directed at you. And as multiple others have agreed, there are in fact things being said by another member in response to the OP explaining their creative choices that would absolutely be considered bullying. Nobody is getting their panties in a wad over receiving criticism, although the same can't be said for those who can't accept that the OP doesn't need to agree with every critic.
