Yes and we are all free to like and dislike whatever. But like and dislike is very suggestive. I guess the big question would be how does one get past that and look at a piece objectively? Can one dislike something and still use objective tools to evaluate a photograph, painting, sculpture, etc? Can one dislike something and still see why it is important?

It's just a damn opinion. I don't like processing that makes faces look like a plastic doll...nothing more, nothing less. The rest looks fine, but the face not so much. Again, that's my opinion...you might have others, that's fine, I have mine. Period.
There are things that are subjective, and things that are not. Who would like something so unrealistic as mannequin skin? Only amateurs or people who don't know anything.
And to be very clear, I like the image pretty good and like the colors; but the skin needs to be fixed, but the OP seems to be very stubborn about that; that attitude will stunt his growth as a photographer.

Again a subjective opinion is fine but should something subjective be the basis of a critique? I would say no.
I can say this without saying I like it or I don't like it based on an objective observation.
Let's talk about color first. The photographer has used a complimentary color scheme. Red/Green and that can create a sense of vibration. Red always looks more red when against green. Red can also give a sense of passion. The fact that the model in red and in a larger green.tan environment it will usually grab the viewers attention.
Then there is a rhythm of the repeating shapes of the seats. The order in the bus The random rhythm of nature and thing not so much in order outside the bus.
The perspective is interesting. The implied lines lead to a yellowish tan in the background. Her gaze and hand placement are also thought provoking. But the biggest question is why is she dressed so well and clearly not going anywhere? This is clearly fantasy. A dream maybe?
So if it is fantasy, which it clearly is, then is it OK to step outside of realism for a moment?
Thats my 2 cents. Take it for what it is worth.

Also wanted to say this could be very interesting as a piece of a larger narrative.

Who said anything about a critique. This is a display board, not a critique board and the OP did not ask for a critique. He put the image for others to view and I gave my opinion on the processing...nothing more. You seem to be trying to push more into it.
If I posted "I like it", all would be well, but I posted "I didn't like it" and all hell is breaking loose. Why is that?
Where did I say it was not ok not to like it? In fact if you read what I wrote I clearly said that liking or not liking something is perfectly fine but it is subjective. This is not all hell breaking loose. I've been in that and this is clearly not that. A suggestion, put down the coffee and step away from the key board. I thought a forum was about exchanging ideas. I guess that exhchange is only good if everyone agrees huh?

You are the one making things more than they are. If I said the image looked great, we would not be here. I said I didn't like the plastic look of the face, that was my opinion. You came back at me with:
"Again a subjective opinion is fine but should something subjective be the basis of a critique?"
I am not critiquing the image...just stating my opinion on it...very much like others stated they liked the image. Should you also not treat the "I like it" posts the same...subjective opinions? Why are you so hung up on trying to make my opinion into a critique debate?
Anyways...I'm done here. I guess we all only can pat each other on the back and not relay our true feelings on images posted.
So I guess discussing it in depth is out of the question? Again and like I have said people don't have to like it and that is fine. I first commented saying that processing is subjective. I would even go farther as to say it can be part of a persoanl style. So you don't like his style. That's fine to. So why don't we crit the image. I stated my thoughts. Yours?
BTW if you have ever read any of my comments I have many times clearly stated why I think something is working or why it might be falling short. I just did that over in another thread.
Meant to also say I do think the processing matches the overall dreamlike feel of the image.
And BTW I don't recall him asking for opinions on the processing sooooo.
I can see the appeal - and the overall concept/vibe is good. It's more in the category of art so will always be subjective. The style of processing might be good or bad depending on who you ask. My non-vote would say it's a bit overbaked - but I'm not a cook in that kitchen - so it's served up as is - take it or leave it!
