I've been focussing mostly on the owls this past week .... Burrowing Owls, Barn Owls, and Great Horned Owls. Hope you will find some of these images to be good, as most definitely they are not all good.
Wow Bobby ! I love #2 ! looks like a flight-training class. The way they're all sitting around watching how it's done. Great storytelling. And the light and the pose in #6 is fantastic. All so well done.
It's really gonna drive me crazy seeing these shots in different light when I'm a thousand miles away
Thanks Gary! Yes the owlets were practicing or training to fly and it was so much fun to watch. They would rise about 6 feet or so, hover for a few seconds and then come down. And they would take turns doing this flight simulation! I shot these on Sunday evening just before sunset.

Thank you, Morris! Not sure what I will focus on next. Could be the Peregrine Falcons, or red fox. I had spent a lot of time shooting the Mandarin Ducks and Hummingbirds before the owls.

Yes, the barn owl would come out just after sunset, so you have a window of approx 15 minutes to shoot ... and there is no guarantee that the owl will show up during that time! And because I do not have a fast prime lens, I was having to shoot at ISO 12800 so I have lost a lot of detail as I am having to apply aggressive NR.

When I was getting in my car at the parking lot the other night I noticed some folks just finishing up over by those dunes. I assume they were after your owl here.
I still really like the look of these even with the noise.
Yes, and the owl was a no-show that evening. I believe he comes out after 8pm on most nights when it’s way too dark. He is, after all, a nocturnal owl.
