Some more pics... To kick things of, first a pics that I was really happy I got until I it saw on the laptop - it ain`t sharp! This little Sedge Warbler caught a dragonfly for breakfast and was parading around with it - I was tracking him for at least 5min, flying from one bush/tree to another, jumping from branch to branch, not sitting still in one place for more than a second or two. So was this faild focus something we could pin on the lens? Or was it more of an AF problem of the a7RII? Or was it an inexperienced camera operator error?
Nice summery shots! As for the somewhat warbly warbler I think it is mostly due to the shutter speed of 1/250th; birds make small movements of their heads often.

Yeah I guess SS could take the blame here - so my failure...
I'll be picking up either this or the 200-600 in two weeks (leaning towards the 200-600 but think this makes more sense in terms of size; I am on planes constantly)

I am not sure if I am seeing motion blur, or slightly out of focus on some images
I just got my second copy of this lens today and I'am much happier now. My initial impression is that it's sharper than my Sigma 100-400 DN, not sure about the corners. The AF seems snappier, not sure if it's any better on BIF coming at you. I will be keeping this copy.

Yeah some of the shots probably had to slow SS, trying to keep the ISO down. You can see all the data (and zoom in) on Flickr, all pics have link next to them.
Here's a new video of the lens with wildlife shooting done in Alaska.
I was looking forward to watching this but don't see any keeper photos in the video that show the attributes of the lens. Unfortunately, this video gives me lens confidence in this telephoto zoom, not more.
So I got an a7RIVa to have better AF for birding. For these few outings I had I must say I am really happy with the cameras performance but now I guess I`m running out of excuses so it`s time to up my game. I promise I will work on it.
The second issue - I use Darktable to process my photos and have come up with a problem, Darktable doesn`t support (yet) the "a" version of the rIV. So I downloaded Capture1 express until things get sorted with Darktable. I hope I did a good enough job processing these here.
There were also shots of other birds (e.g. kingfishers, sunbirds...) but they were too far away even at 500mm and the shots wasn't usable after cropping I can finally understand why they say u will always want to have faster and longer glass in this area though
