Still going through my photos. But here's some photos from this year's 2024 California Capital Airshow
This year's show was unique because A) the show started late afternoon into the evening ending in a fireworks show and B) The Italian Frecce Tricolori were performing. The first time they've done shows in North America in over 30 years. So I'm glad I got to see them perform live
I know Douglas has been sharing his wonderful photos already. Going through mine, I noticed I have many similar photos to his. Except not quite as good
So I'll try to post some different angles so everyone doesn't get bored

Wonderful shots, Robert! You are too nice. Always fun to see what fellow photographers got! You got better panning skill than I, those P-51 taking-off shots are super nice with that golden light. Interesting I used the 300 GM+2X TC and the 100-400 GM (on another A1), and you used the 300 GM bare and the 24-70. Some of the formations of the Italian team sure can better be shot wider than 100mm.

Thx Douglas!
My lenses changed throughout the day. I think I only used the 24-70 for that Tricolori shot specifically. And the sunrise photos.
I mostly used the 100-400 on my A9III and the 300/1.4x on the A1. Although I did take off the TC as the light levels lowered
The A1s are great for travel too. For my recent trip to California, I brought two A1s (mainly for the airshow, but for landscape as well), an A7RV (for landscape only) and an Infrared A7III. I can't imagine packing them for a trip if the A1 had a built-in grip.

Great shots! I didn't know they would band such young chicks.
Thanks! They probably can't catch them after they learn to run. They sure can run from a very early age. From what I have heard, many bird species legs don't grow too much so the bands can go on.
One more for now. Still have some to go through.

Nice hummingbirds as usual! This thread seems to finally be slowing down after a couple years. The A9III thread isn't all that active to make up for it.
Recent shots from the last two outings, mainly some big waders...

Precapture not needed to get the splash shots, would be nice to get the beak going into the water though.
