The increase in resolution was the exact reason for me of getting the A1; I felt pixel-starved with the A9 II for shooting wildlife/birds.
I have not encountered any issues with the sensor of the EVF, not even a single incident. I am not sure what I did... right .
Thank you very much, K-H.! You are correct, the structure is unique.
Thanks Joshua. That’s great.
Whatever it is you are doing, don’t change it!

Relative to my A9 the main reason to upgrade to the A1 is more pixels.
The other improvements are welcome but by themselves would not be enough for me to upgrade.
Only the A1 EVF/eye sensor issue is keeping me from ordering the camera right now.
I don’t want to play the role of a beta tester anymore.
Yes, more pixels would fix a big A9 drawback. Greater responsiveness (wake from sleep in particular) would also be useful, as would the faster sensor read speed that could make rolling shutter almost a non-issue when using the e-shutter. I don't find my A9 lacking in AF capability, and TBH the bird eye AF tests I've seen so far seem a bit underwhelming, so I'm not sure I'd notice any improvement in the A1's AF.
I'm not too worried about the EVF sensor thing since I'm sure they can sort it out in firmware, and I recall some people reporting similar issues with the A9. Minor things like that are always a factor in any new release and TBH I'm impressed that it's the only issue being reported (so far) in such a complex piece of electronics.
What is wrong with this image? Nothing actually but I was just surprised at the IQ coming off this inexpensive, walk-around consumer-grade zoom lens on the A1.
A snapshot fairly early in the morning... and yes, another non-bird image
