Burrowing owls in Florida from Sunday. Very interesting to see some were nesting in people's yards, even right by the driveways. Here I only got Canada geese in my yard.

Ok, there's a story behind that angle, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to hear it. Dish, Doug!
Thank you Christian. Well, I signed up for a 3-day air-to-air photo shoot during the Sun N Fun airshow in Lakeland, Florida. It was my first time to shoot air to air, even though I have shot maybe 60 airshows from the ground. Obviously it's a totally different experience. In the first picture, I am the guy in a light blue shirt. My first day was Thursday, really bad weather, 30-40 mph wind, with storm coming. We took off anyway, the plane I was in was tossed around like a leave. I was sitting 2' from the open back door and I have acrophobia! The only expected join-up on Thursday was the KC-135 tanker, it didn't show up. We landed after bouncing around in the air for 40 minutes. Friday was really good, lots of join-ups, including a pair of F-18 Super Hornet. We had one flight Saturday morning, then got grounded by the FAA for certain paperwork issue. When we talked to the folks on the ground, one guy said "the FAA people have small dxck anyway"
After I got done with the airshow I did a bit birding before heading back to Maryland. Lots of files to work on. Here are some of the F-18 shots, except the last one.

If there's something Osprey can deal in equal parts is elation and frustration. Our birds this year are silent, efficient killers - they show up without a proverbial peep, hover, dive, catch and escape in under 30 seconds. At least they seem to be sticking to the same general area for the time being.
After we left, one of our friends caught one with two fish in his talons.
Anyway...a few shots at first light.

More from the A1... I had the A7RV with my for the shoot too but the EVF blackout during the shoot bugged the heck of of me. I regret selling my other A1 when I bought the Nikon Z8, thinking I wouldn't need 2 A1s and the Z8. I sold the Z8, just too much hassle to remember different operations/settings. I am even confused between the A1 and the A7RV. I am getting another A1, not for $6500, of course.
I am seriously tempted to go to the airshow in Bagotville, Quebec in June mainly to see the RAF Typhoon Demo. I have never seen the Typhoon before. But the round trip drive is 1700 miles..

Hi Doug - great photo opportunity. Me, being in the the safety business, my question is what did they do to prevent you or someone else from falling out of the bay door? I noticed that the D ring on the back of your vest (not sure if it is an approved body harness either) was not connected to a fall restraint lanyard. 😂😂😂.

Glad you had a good time though.
Thanks Laslo! I am pretty sure the harness is approved. This team has done these flights in Europe and N. America many times. In the particular picture you saw, I had another ring around my waist that was connected to something. The D ring on my back that you saw wasn't used. Some folks had to use both D rings on their back and around their waist, depending on their assigned position. I have acrophobia so I better made sure I was secured.

You are probably right about the harness, and I didn’t see the entire setup. Usually there are multiple D rings and some are at waist level. The only way to make sure if you take me with you on plane the next trip and I could be your personal safety inspector. My wife would kill me though? 😅😂😇
