Before anybody asks, this is a focus stack of the actual scene. The 600 f:4 doesn't have enough DOF even at f:22 to get this scene right so I took 2 shots and stacked them.
Gotta love bird eye AF in A1... The situation cannot get much more complicated than what I had here. The wild red-crowned parrot suddenly left her perch within a very busy tree, and all I could do was to just point the lens and start shooting. Of course many images in the sequence had to be deleted but I was happy getting ANY keepers in this situation!
Beautiful captures! I have noticed your using both the 400 2.8GM and 600 F4 GM. If you had to choose only one of these lenses, which would it be?? Also, have you noticed an improved Birds eye AF with the latest 1.30FW?

400 v 600...if only one?...I'm not sure yet. I'm actively thinking on that question as I'm considering just keeping one of them. I find it simpler to not have to choose which one to take out on any given day.
As far as 1.3FW goes....the only thing I think may be a bit better is the system finding the eye when the bird is partially obstructed by vegetation, sticks. But I don't have 2 A1s to test out back to back, one on each FW so I can't really say for certain.
I didn't notice any obvious increase in keeper rate for perched or BIF after shooting 1.3FW for the past 3 days. It is a hard thing to evaluate as the A1 already has a very high success rate.
Also, have you noticed an improved Birds eye AF with the latest 1.30FW?
