It's kind of cruel how the action picks up when someone threatens to leave.

^ You guys make me want to move to BC.

Saturday was a complete bust, the species in question was a no show. Today there was too much to shoot.

Photo cross posted in the Sony FE Image Thread and taken at 1:33 PM.

Looking at my second Panorama Image of the Teatro antico di Taormina (the Ancient Greek Theater in Taormina). The image consists of 3 images merged (combined) in Photoshop to create a 1.77 GB TIFF image that has been shrunk down to a JPEG file this size.
Hand Held relying on Camera IBIS, A1 and Voigtlander 50mm f2 Apo-Lanthar Asph, FE mount; silent shutter.
ISO 100, f8, the left 2 images at 1/250 second and the right portion at 1/400 second.
The left 2 images had an Exposure Correction of +0.18 Stops and the right image had an Exposure Correction of +0.70 Stops.

Practicing shooting swallows in flight this morning. There are plenty of them, only if I can put them in the view finder and track them. I want one catching a bug

30FPS and spray and pray That is how I manage to get a few bug catches. Of course it is always when they radically change direction that they go for the bug so it is usually a bit of luck if I can pan up/down fast enough and in the correct direction.

Nice work on them.

Thanks, Christian and Geoff!

I love the lighting in those shots. Golden hour?

Tracking swallows in flight is fun (and much easier than many other birds) but I'm not sure I've ever caught one pre-bug chomp. An open beak a few times, but no bug in sight. Not surprising since they cruise and look for bugs on the fly, while many other birds (like warblers or phoebes, for example) only take flight once they have a bug in sight, making it far more likely to catch them in the act (if you actually manage to get a good BiF shot)

Thank you. yes, they were taken around 7:00 AM during my regular dog walk. I was about 15' from their nest under a roof, they got in and out from the nest and flew around. I will try again. Hopefully as I practice more I will become more efficient in finding them in the view finder, I dare not to try at 860mm.
