yeah, thought about it as it can be used on any1.6x body, basically my 10D and 20D and the 10-22 only works on 20D. The biggest drawback of the sigma is its relatively small aperture - f4 - 5.6, which is pretty frustrating sometimes as I love low light.
Also the 10-22 has a handful of good reviews already and if I want to wait for the Sigma I dont just want for its launch but its reviews as well. I hate to wait!! But having said that, I still haven't decided on the 10-22 yet.
I've negotiated with a Singaporean guy who will sell me a mint 12month old 24-70 2.8L for about AUD1400 and he allows me to test it in Singapore before I buy it. So I think it's a good deal I will go for first before the 10-22. I couldn't resist the deal having played with Ed's 24-70!!! It's all your fault, Ed!!
The sigma 70-300 is so cheap, maybe i should get it as well when i'm in hk, i could use it as a macro lens to try doing some macro stuff. What's the difference between the APO and the DL versions?
What about the sigma 24-70 f2.8, i guess u'll have to wait for reviews as well.
APO has something to do with minimising colour aberration - don't ask me what that means - Ed would probably know.
What I know is that the APO version has received plenty of good reviews compared with the DL and it's only about HK$2-300 dearer so I would go for the APO myself
In regards to the Sigma 24-70 2.8, I read a few times that the new 24-70 2.8 DG Macro is better than the 24-70 2.8 DG DF, so something to think about too. Problem with the Sigma is it's got a 82mm filter thread (ouch!! expensive filters) and no HSM means noisy AF!! Have you ever listened to Sigma's AF with no HSM?

It just means that they use a mix of glass formulated to reduce CA, similar to what Canon use flourite for. They just don't want to say what the formulation for the glass is. (unlike Canon, who like to brag)
Sigma now have MTF charts for their lenses. The APO lens is definitely better than the standard one, but it's corner performance on full frame won't be all that good, especially at 70mm. It's pretty sharp at 300mm... in theory, anyway. Bit of a change from the Canon 70-300.
Just having a look at the Sigma, it doesn't have a very short min focus distance. It's not something you can get right down into. 95cm is a bit far away I think...
Zoo....we should do it in winter when the sun sets at 5pm, we can get some good light from 3-5pm. In summer or even now, the sun sets at 7.30 and we only begin to have some good light (if lucky) at 5 and zoo closes. Animals are less active in hot weather as well
Or we may go on an overcast day but you never know when we will get any overcast weather.
BTW, sunsets for the last three nites were spectacular...but I didn't have a camera

Smelly, for a tele, 95cm is very good already.
If I remember correctly, the min focusing distance for:
70-200 f4 is 1.2m
70-200 2.8 is 1.5m
70-200 2.8 IS is 1.4m
75-300USM is 1.5m
No wheel... rather spend it on glassware (like the Sigma) than a steering wheel.. though I wouldn't mind the Driving Force Pro.... 2.5 lock to lock.. hmmm.. yes please!
Well, the Sigma is alright for the price though. It is dirt cheap really. Why not buy an extension tube and just plug it onto any lense. No real need for a macro lens if macro shots are going to be a rareity.
My bro bought the Logitech steering wheel with the game. Apparently the game was only launched yesterday. He was moving furnitures at home to find the best mount for his steering wheel. He was as excited as a rabbit and told me that he's put in the order some time ago...reminded me of what i did for my 20D.

When you say it it sounds so dirty!
There have been scientific studies that have proven that carrying a lens with a little red stripe can make you loose weight, reduce the apearance of fine lines and rinkles on your face and also make you apear more attrractive to the opposite sex!
I'm not too old for PS2. It's a damn lot easier to test drive cars at home. I've done the steering wheel before but it's quite expensive for just one game. Plus that was the reason I bought a PS1 and PS2. Just because of one game. I've bought the whole lot from 1 to 4! It keeps me young and my reactions sharp.
I think L stands for Love muscle... or it could be L for looney. I think the latter.
