no, never had a laptop with me. I guess just zoom in as far as you can and view the sharpness on the LCD. Test the IS which is important. zoom out to 200mm and half click the shutter, you could see that the image stablilises in the viewfinder.
Waterfall is good idea. Smelly and I have been to the Leura Cascades. Smelly is very lazy to walk. I want to go to the Terrace Falls, but got to find an overcast day!!
Hey!! I am not that lazy! I just can't stand the heat!!! I'd rather a drive anyway. Even offroad!!! especially now.. I got an Outback.. so make the most of it b4 I change cars again to a normal one. Anywhere with a moderately easy offroad track? But I think I prefer doing portraits. Anyone know anyone that wants to get one done for free?
I went on australia day this year, it was a day after some rain, so we had some decent waterfalls, not sure whether they'll be there after a few dry days. I went to the falls near hazelbrook.
Here's the link for some of my mediocre pictures. All taken with the 17-85, mostly 1/10s handheld. Next time, will bring a tripod to get a longer exposure!
Looks great! Australia day though was very sunny in the city as far as I can remember. Today would have been a good day to go though even so, I think I need things like graduated filters to get waterfall shots right It gets me thinking... there must be other places other than the Blue Mountains to take photos... come on everyone... .
March/April is good because autumn leaves start to show.
Actually not that much walking is involved. There are some waterfalls you can get to with less than 20minutes walking. Once you're deep in the bush, there is minimal sunlight, so it's still possible on a sunny day. Not sure where else u can get good waterfall shot nearby.
I've been to Leura Cascades and Wentworth falls lots of times. It's a great place to shoot, but yeah, it kinda gets old.
The next model shoot I'm going to will be in two weeks time (details), but I'm thinking of organising an outdoors model shoot after that, particularly with the autumn colours coming in.
Hi
Have been following this thread for several weeks have not seen any mention of the 150th anniversary of railways in NSW. The THIRLMERE FESTIVAL OF STEAM nostalgic event SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2005 will have 6 steam trains operating. I have alwys had a facination with steam engines and no doubt there is some interest from others on this forum so hope this is of some help. http://www.heritageexpress.com.au/nostalgia.htm#tfos
Hi Hydrotoast. Thanks for the info...looks interesting to me also. But not sure whether it's going to be just a ride on the train and what photo opportunities there are. Thanks for the link.
6. the...fungi?
7. Terrace falls?
8. those red rocks and the waterfall.
they could be better if you turn off your IS and put your camera on a tripod and with better lighting- less contrast. But nice composition.
I have seen photos by Peter Lik of the Terrace Falls. I think it's your no. 7 in the series. Can you tell me how to get there? It's near Hazelbrook right?!
Yeah they are photos from the terrace falls. (near hazelbrook station) A group of people took me there, i wasn't preparing to do much photographing that day, so didn't have my tripod. Although most shot i got wasn't possible with a tripod because of the landscape, so IS was better than nothing.
I need to ask my friend how to get there if we're to go again, it's not easy to get to actually. About 1 hour walk from the car to get there. (need good weather protection for your gear)
Come on la.. I am not that lazy!!! Though I was thinking more out west of Wiseman's Ferry.. there's small town out west.. and some aboriginal painting on the caves...
Nice photos, sorry of my ignorance, what's a CPL? I'll be interested in going if you guys are going again. Though i'll be going to Perth mid March (Sunset at fremantle?) and then going to HK (night lights) and the silk road in china (travel photos and landscape?), so lots of photos opportunity for me coming up.
I'll seriously think about the 16-35, i read your review on the lens Zane. Hope i'll get a good price in hk too!
