Don't be sorry, CPL stands for Circular Polariser. I will be too busy to go recently due to work and Chinese New Year but will defiinitely think about revisiting Bombo later in the year.
Call or PM me for the Perth sunset, would you?
Good luck with the Silk Road. I would love to see your work after your return.
Yes, the 16-35 has very nice contrast, especially at low light with f2.8. Bought it for $8400HKD last November.
While we're on the topic of sunset, Manly is a good spot, there is a little hill up the road from the ferries, been there a few years back. The walk from spit bridge to manly (around 4 hours!) has plenty of photos opportunities too, if people are interested.
Zane, u r the one that needs to walk more ma.. not me!! I mean... look at urself!
The Bulli lookout is superb at night... saw it last night but didn't stop (had to check in and already late to get to the hotel). Will do it again next time and stop if I have a chance.
Smelly, I was there last week during the day, make sure you also go up this other lookout (Mount Kiera) on the way back from wollongong, about 10mins drive coming back from wollongong, turn off to go up a mountain which gives you a paranomic view from Bulli to wollongong and shellharbour.
Last time I went down through Wollongong I had my photo taken... for speeding! I wouldn't mind taking another trip down there and doing a photo tour (as long as I'm not driving )
There might also be some interesting things to see at corrimal (wollongong beach). You've got a lighthouse at one end and steelworks at the other. And a golf-course in between.
I'd actually like to do a sunset at Watson's Bay sometime. There's a nice place on the walk to the lighthouse (south head) where you can see quite a wide expanse of Sydney Harbour.
Unfortunately the nude beach is right underneath it.
Well the problem is that only people I've ever seen at that nude beach are guys... unless you like that kinda stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with that!!!
Hey anybody going to the Chinese New Year parade tomorrow? The parade starts at 11am in Town Hall and finishes at the Entertainment Centre. I will get to the city around 10am and will follow the parade until it finishes....bit of walk there !!!
Yes people if anyone's doing the Bulli or Wollongong sunset. I will be in...i love sunsets but not that kinda stuff.
I took Ed's advice and went to la perouse yesterday, actually went to the maroubra rocks first around 7pm and finished off with the beginning of the sunset at la perouse prior to 8pm. Most of the shots didn't turn out well, generally with poor contrasts and colours, probably due to my poor techniques, (or could it be the 17-85 performing poorly at F/16 17mm?) I'll be keen to try again if anyone is going for more sunset trips!!
I think sunrise is better since the sun hits the eastern facing walls... sunset I don't there are many places that makes it look good except around Darling Point.
not for my coming weekend but should be fine for either

4, 5 March
what about 5 March? I am flexible but I will be going to Singapore/Bangkok from 18/3 to 28/3
I suggest:
Meeting around 6pm, catch the sunset (somewhere near the city), then back to the city at nite for some close up night scenes which we dont need the sky or interiors of QVB and Strands Arcade etc. dinner in between. Any other suggestions?
