Nicely done Smelly, were they your tracks on the beach?
I was in Newcastle on the weekend too:

(NB: I know, the exposure is a bit over and generally technically not so hot - it's just the only jpeg I have handy at the moment...)

Ed, yes, there were heaps of container ships in the background. It's near Newcastle ports.

James, no, they weren't. The RAV isn't that heavy on this bit of sand but I did make tracks that deep in the really soft stuff. I found it better to create my own tracks on certain sections but in others, better to follow the tracks like a train. The overall >1hr drive round trip is not something to enjoy too long if you end up having to dig the car out or burning a clutch like what I had to go through.

Btw, around the boat is a fantastic place to catch some fish so it's not all sightseeing.

That pic.. not sure, it's not sharp..

Hmm... tried this in B&W and auto level.. certainly shows the JPG compression in the sky.

I like it as a B & W but as you mentioned the sky doesn't look so flash .

Hi Smelly, i think the B&W version looks better. Do you use the channel mixer to change to monochrome? it seems to give a lot more control on output.

Nope.. in fact, I am so lazy that I just use the ACDSee editting software to turn it B&W and then auto level it. That's it.

Cheers Gents

Another vote for the B&W, Smelly.
I'd love to see it after hitting the original with the channel mixer.

A bit late, but nice shot there James!

Also, I much prefer the colour version of the tracks.

A quick drive to the to watch tonights lightening storm, used bulb mode with a hat over the lens no cord release though. First time taking lightening photos bit hard trying to hold an umbrella and the shutter button down and not being blown away
