Ed, I like this shot, great eyes. Deliberate low contrast?

Thanks Richard. Actually, I processed those at work, where I don't have the C1 etcetera profiles.

Hey Zane; I think cutting up my credit card to clean my sensor would be a very prudant step!

Here's another Sunday happy snap, taken with my weight training maching:

Imagine the luck, I finally buy a bottle of Rodinal (and like it!) and Agfa go out of business

Good shot too James, focussed on the forehead rather than on those eyes??!

Have you guys seen this: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/305892
Best portrait i've seen. Anyone know how to post-process to something like this. The poster referred to "The technique, it is the Draganstyle, do a search for Lazlo, or Dragan and you will find more topics over here". But i couldn't find anything on it.

Did you have a look at this thread by the second poster, does not tell much of the processing but more the lack of it. http://www.andrzejdragan.com/ is "the technique" then more of a photographic style/techique or a processing style /technique

AH Ha just found it on the bottom of his work for sale you can buy a print with all the details on a disc on how to process it for a mere $400USD

"Recording of the "creation history" of a selected photo - a set of consecutive intermediate steps from a raw photo to its final version recorded in a set of high quality digital files + exhaustive explanation of the technique details and all the applied tricks + answering all your questions concerning the details of the techniqe 300 EUR / 400USD "
Maybe we can all pitch in $25 each and get a copy

Richard, not sure what style, but I would imagine, you need

1. a sharp sharp large aperture portrait lens, like the 85 1.8 or 135 2.8SF I am selling....
2. Take a passport photo for this fellow, make him sit still for you, put him in shade with dark background and natural diffused lighting on face. Make sure you have some catchlight in his eyes
3. In PS, adjust level, til you are happy
4. darken or burn the background, quite heavily here IMO
5. dodge the catchlight in his eyes

I think it's not that hard technically, talking this guy into having his portrait taken is the hardest...I imagine

Cutting up your credit card would help you spend less as well... on the weight training machine

Nice photo btw, a bit too much shade around the eye area i say

Thanks Yeah, I think I'm gonna stop trying to hand-hold this beastie. At least until I spend more time at the gym. Could have had mode depth too for my taste but had to shoot this wide open to get a holdable shutter speed in at 125ISO.
