Premium Glossy is very nice. I haven't used Kodak Premium Paper - tell me if it works OK with Epson.
I think Kodak Professional Lustre is the Ultima paper (Colorfast technology) with a matt finish. I haven't tried it.
I bought the Canon Papers from Businessworld Parramatta 02-9635-4477 and the Epson roll paper from Borge Anderson & Associates. I cannot recall the prices of the papers but Paper pro is roughly $5 for 13x19/sheet. I think the Canon Paper Plus Glossy is roughly half that. The ink is the killer in the $$$. Whilst I haven't tried OEM inks they may offer considerable saving in $$$. I am too scared of print fading to try them!
For truly bulk printing you may want to play around with a Continuous Inking System (CIS). I have thought of getting a CIS - maybe I will convert my Canon to CIS after I get a new printer.
BTW - I have 30 sheets of Kodak Ultima you can have (A4).
Hi Zane
Guess you are having lots of fun with your new printer.
I am using ilford classic pearl it is about the closest paper I have used that is the same as fuji crystal archive from the lab printers. Here is a little bit of info on it http://www.ausmedia.com.au/ilford.htm
Also a link to an American site that has epson roll paper in sizes not generally available eg 13inX100ft premuim lustre which including postage is $153AUD which is equal to 3 rolls of 13X32ft http://www.eximvaios.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=2_413
By the way i have tried oem inks I can not tell the difference printing the same print with both the epson and the oem but like has been said will they last.
Also how is the monitor calibration going
Chris
Had a look at this system but there are more professional looking and made units around. From what I can understand the main difference between the systems is the ink dampeners these prevent ink leaking from the print heads. The one shown has ink tanks which are just bottles from the local plastics store not custom made. Have alook at this one for instance it has regulated pressurized tanks. For my 1290 the price is $999 which seems over the top or is this with the printer . http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=51310&item=6778900544&rd=1
Most of u would have seen these views before... these were the only acceptable ones i have.. the tripod i had wasn't strong enough to hold the 300D+17-85 steady! next time will need to bring a higher quality tripod!
Maurie, keep us informed. Btw, any more news on the handle?
rwwlee, those look a bit foggy. You know at The Peak, you should use the binoculars there as a tripod though it's a bit hard to put a large camera and not have half the image cut off by the binocular. I didn't go up this time coz cloud just covered the whole area during the whole week of rain. I think to really get a good shot, you've got to hang out for a day where it's super windy to clear the smog and also just after a rainy day.
Yes, Chris, I am having lots of fun with the printer and yes Richard, buying some paper getting prepared for it!!
With calibration, I haven't done much yet. I had a few busy nights this week. One thing I am quite surprised: I've installed ACDSee 7.0, friend of mine told me to change colour profile to sRGB, all the photos appearing in ACDC are sharper and more colourful than the same photos appearing in PS
Remember how I said that my monitor is quite dull comparing with my Epson prints. I suspect that what I see in ACDC may be closer to the actual print...
I will give those ilford papers a try...thanks for the link Chris!!
