Hello Javier. So simple yet we must make things complex. I could not help but see all of the triangles in the picture. The sail of the boat, trees to right and left corners then also the ocean from top to bottom. Sometimes the mind works overtime. I do like the shot.

Javier, my friend, you usually show us that simple is best. Nice shot.

You're absolutely right, John: the best, the beauty is allways in the simple, in the small things. The important is to know and to want to See it.
Thank for your comment.

You know, I tell myself over and over: "Larry, look at the images that elicit good feelings on FM Landscape Forum, and notice that most of them are quite simple --- so take that "simple" philosophy and put it into your own work."

Yeah, that's what I TELL myself. But actually DOING it seems to elude me at times. I guess I'll just continue to get inspiration from images such as this beauty. Very nicely done.

Don't take it as a personal attack but this one seems like a snapshot over a cliff. I usually enjoy your photos but not this one.

I cannot take your comment like a personal attack, among other reasons because I would not understand it. In this forum we are free of expressing our opinion, politely, but with sincerity. You make it and I respect it deeply. The only thing that I don't understand is what you mean exactly when you tell of "snapshot" over a cliff. Evidently, for the taking angle one can deduce that the picture is taken from a high place, in this case a cliff. Anything new, it was not a riddle. As for the term "snapshot", if that means: a picture taken spontaneously and without preparation neither excessive technical resources, I will tell you that I have never been friend of more resources that those that my view, my camera, my feeling and my aesthetic sense dictate me. It can be that they are escaped to me some concepts of the term but, probably, in that case, all my pictures are snapshots. I admire your sincerity and respect deeply your opinion.
Thank you to be devoted your time and to express what my picture has been able to "transmit you", although in this case it is ANYTHING.
Thanks again.

Hi my old friend, love how you left so much space around the sail boat to show how small and lost it is, but on the other hand you included some trees and the buoy to show that it is still close to the coast and to a safe harbor. Simple ... yes, but very thoughtful.

Javier,
I love simplicity in photos, paintings, .....anything creative. This shot is wonderfully simple and, to me, is a real sneak peak at the afternoon on the lake. I'd be tempted to take the bouy out to simplify it even more. I enjoyed this shot. Thanks.

Hi Shirley
Ha ha. I was also tempted to take the bouy out to simplify it even more. That's right. But finally I decided to respect my first idea. I also proved another different compo when I was shoting, but I prefer the "double triangle compo" of the firt shot. Here have you the other try. Perhaps in the second shot has more sense and annoy less the buoy...
Thanks a lot for your comments.
Best

Javier

Hello Javier! Others have remarked about the simplicity of this image. Yes, it is a simplified arrangement, but the feelings it evokes for me are anything but simple. This image makes me feel tall. It allows me to clear my mind of all the detail that occupies my daily existence. It's almost as though the foreground trees are that detail, but this image allows me to rise above them -- to push the details out of the way in order to see beyond. And what do I see? I see a beautiful open space occupied by two objects: a sailboat and a buoy. It appears the sailboat has just passed the buoy, a marker of sorts in this open water. I read that you contemplated removing the buoy, but I'm glad you didn't. For me, the buoy enables the sailboat to reveal distance and movement. This image reminds me of the feeling I would get while paddling in my kayak. The open water in front of me was like a gift, a cherished space I could hardly wait to traverse, not because I was going anywhere, but because I was going nowhere.

Thanks for sharing your vision.
