Yeah trust me I'm fighting that psychological battle myself -- "But 45 IS BETTER THAN 20" even though I'm shooting with my 20MP RX10 IV right now and 20MP is fine (then again, I walk around with a 24-600mm equiv. lens).

Amazingly, I'm going to commend Canon for keeping the R6 and R5 really friggin close, except the 8K video that I have 0 interest in and a few other things. The differences seem much more negligible than the 6D vs 5D series, where 6D series was fairly inferior with AF specs, frame rates, etc.

Yeah I could afford both I’d probably go for the R5 but at the same time, I don’t feel limited at all by the R6. In fact I went from the A7III to the R6 but don’t feel like I took a step down or anything. Even my M5 is 24MP. I think it was Gordon Laing who found that despite the 6DII being 6 more MP than the R6, the R6 manages to our resolve it.

I think mirrorless has a lot to do with that too, even the entry level bodies like an M50 have nearly 100% coverage. I guess in a way using the 1DX3 sensor doesn’t hurt too since it’s cheaper than making a brand new sensor for the R6. They also offered Sony’s top feature (20fps with zero blackout) on all their bodies which is definitely impressive.

I'm decided on the R6 - i wish it was 30MP, but everything else seems to be ticking....except the price. I can't bring myself to spend $2500 body only right now (priorities!). But, having two of the *SAME* media and being almost $1500 less than the R5 has sealed the deal...unless they drop the R5 when the drop the R6 prices

These photos look great, I can't believe there aren't more R6 posters. Maybe the 20MP really throws people towards the R5?

20mp is not an issue whatsoever and is plenty! I've only had mine a week and I'm itching to get out and shoot, but work and nasty, cold, gray conditions here in Indiana are slowing me down a bit. I will post soon though once I move beyond test photos of the cat!

Man I'm jealous of that greenery and water -- both rare where I live!

(then again, I haven't seen a mosquito in like 2 years...so there's that)

Albuquerque is really cool, though. I visited there about 8 years ago. A unique landscape with lots of neat places to shoot.

Yeah true that Lots of awesome places within 3 hours or so also. I have lots still to explore haha. But sometimes finding colors not on the brown palette is challenging!

I need to update my LinkedIn photo soon so thought I'd play around with my AD200 to see if it works okay with the R6. I had no issues at all, aside from the horrible model (me....). With the RF 85mm f/2.

We've had a lot of rain over the past week so haven't been able to go out to shoot. I also wanted to try the bulb time so took this 2 min long exposure, it's so much easier now

Undeniably beautiful images from the R6 here! Especially Gabriel and Jordan.

Personally, I own the R with its 30MP sensor. I shot tons with 21MP 5D2 and 1Ds3, so I know exactly how much resolution can be gotten with that size sensor. But since going to Sony a7R2 with 42MP, and the Canon 5DsR with 51MP, and the Sony a7R4 with 61MP, I just can't go back to 20MP as my "go to" camera.

But I'll keep watching the incredible R6 images posted here, and who knows? I may break down when I find the R5 totally out of reach!

I feel ya -- I shot with 42MP Sonys before getting my R6 and so dropping to 'only' 20MP was a big mental challenge.

Honestly, though, I really don't print all that much any longer and even if I did, 20MP is plenty. Most of my stuff is just shared online and maybe one day I'll make a big 5x7" photo album but otherwise, the big resolution goes to waste most of the time for me.

I mean yes, I have a few shots that are big crops (from my 42mp bodies) and then still really usable (for whatever reason the crop was a better composition than the original shot) but honestly the 20MP isn't as big of a deal breaker as I thought.

Also helps I've been shooting exclusively with the RX 10 IV (also 20MP) for a few months, so I sorta adjusted to the pixel count already.

I could see people with high-res monitors having a really hard time because going to 1:1 with a high res monitor + 20MP sensor would barely be a crop -- I'm still rocking a 1920x1200 (16:10) IPS monitor, so zooming 1:1 on a 20MP image still gives a good sense of cropability.

Nice and sharp, I think that 85 will be next. Though for your LinkdIn, I would try a slight smile haha

Imagine that just 6 or 7 months ago the internet declared this camera DOA because of its useless, outdated sensor size....

I want one so bad! Just not sure how the wife feels about bringing the un-dead in to the house. lol.

Yes, the difference is more psychological than real in most cases. When the R5 and R6 were announced, of course I wanted the R5. Who wouldn't want 45 MP, right? But the more I looked into it, the more I found that 20 MP would do just fine. I don't print much either and I print large even less. I can crop away 80% of an R6 image and still display it 1:1: on a 1080p screen. Honestly, other than my own PC, most of my images are consumed on tiny phone screens where even 1080p is more than enough. The R5 only has 50% more pixels in each direction, so "twice the megapixels" is a bit misleading when it comes to how the images actually compare. Throw in the fact that that R5 is a lot more money, in limited supply, would require a new card reader, and new, expensive memory cards, and the decision to get an R6 became easier.

Haha yeah this was more about the lighting setup than anything, although I hate doing a fake smile too 😅 the 85mm is worth every cent and easily my favorite lens so far! The 35mm is also a great lens, I just need to use it more since I been too addicted to this 85mm...
