The common genet is the only genet present in Europe and occurs in the Iberian Peninsula and France.
Been working with these shy animals for years now, and they never cease to amaze me...
High speed photography mixed with a long 27 secs exposure and lightpainting for the masía in the background.
Yes, infrared barrier to trigger camera and flashes for the animal, then 27 sec exposure and during that, I had to get out of the house, use my led frontal to "paint" the old "masía" (type of rural construction very common in Catalonia).
If covid keeps bothering us I´ll keep my genet sessions while preparing for the 2021 Ecuador and Costa Rica trips

Yes, they arrived with the arabs from Africa. They used them as pets to control mice and rats hundreds of years ago...

Very exotic set of images. I'm glad that your hard work paid off with these beautiful shots.
Thank you...being wild I can only work with sensors and infrared barriers, but results can be quite impressive too..

Thank mate, quite some time and efforts into getting them...
Terrific set of photos! As you mentioned, the common genet is the only species in Europe, while there are 14-17 African species, according to Wikipedia.

An astonishing level of careful planning and composition, plus really knowing the creates to make this work. Beautifully done.
If you want to save the mad dash to light paint your house have you thought about linking up long-range triggers like the Pocketwizard PlusIII to fire a set of cheap, high output strobes on your house?
