Just to add a little more to the American kestrel story. The eyesight of the kestrel is truly superb. While perching on the top of her main tree, she spotted the movement of an insect some 100 yards away. She took off and flew straight to the spot. I tracked her and caught her in a burst of 4-5 images. She flew at angle but pretty much towards me and I missed her claws as she came down in the last image. But she missed the prey and took off claw-handed after that. Her flying speed is extremely fast and that’s my excuse for missing the last image .

Up to this point, I have been to the site for 4 times. The female American kestrel did put up a show. Here are a few more to round up the story then.
Of course, she didn't go to my favorite perch that yields that smooth bokeh that often but here she was and with a prey at that. This is some kind preview of what I am thinking of posting on a later date . The other two images show the kestrel in flight.

Joshua,
These are amazing ! I really enjoy observing and photographing these particular birds. #1 and #6 are my favorites.
May I ask where these were taken ?
Thanks so much for sharing,
Bryan
Bryan, thank you very much! I am glad you like the images.
I asked you via PM a few weeks ago whether you wanted to join me to shoot some kestrel actions. But you couldn’t make it. I am thinking of going back there before too long. Please let me know via PM if you are interested.
