Just to add a little more to the American kestrel story. The eyesight of the kestrel is truly superb. While perching on the top of her main tree, she spotted the movement of an insect some 100 yards away. She took off and flew straight to the spot. I tracked her and caught her in a burst of 4-5 images. She flew at angle but pretty much towards me and I missed her claws as she came down in the last image. But she missed the prey and took off claw-handed after that. Her flying speed is extremely fast and that’s my excuse for missing the last image .
