I really like this lens, but I find it really long and big...too bad
Who cares, it's too big, if you can afford it, you like what it produces, and you have use for it.
How about us, who like to shoot wild life, we carry much bigger and heavier lenses, and we're having so much fun 😃
Sometimes a photo get my attention without being able to know why?
Maybe in this case the IQ , but this is shot at F8
When I first bought this lens I used to use it wide open, but then I found that I can get better result between F2 and F4 (I mean for bokeh and sharpness)

I tend to use 50/1.2 at 1.2 a lot for its special look. However, it is not always the best F stop for everything so
you have to pick and choose a bit. Although in the back of my mind, if I am dragging a 1 kg lens with me, why do I want
to use F4 when I might as well just bring 50/1.8 to make my life easier (Of course I know that technically 50/1.2@F4 performance is not identical as 50/1.8S at F4).

Very much like saying if I have a truck, I should always keep it loaded
depends what final product you are after
yes F1.2 if I am after bokeh (separating the subject) or low light but not for IQ

These are amazing. Can you share a little bit about how you shot them and settings ?
Thanks. No special setting or anything.
It was shot at f1.2, 1/50s on both shots. I use auto ISO a lot and portrait shot was iso 450, the other one iso 360.
Just a matter of slow enough shutter speed to keep iso down but with no motion artifact from myself or the subject.
All of these were shot handheld in a room somewhat filled with people.
