Congratulations to Gregg B. for winning Feature Thread of the Week with 7 votes - View Previous Winners
I've been recently traveling to a few states to capture Autumn foliage. I went to Colorado (before big fires they had), Texas and Louisiana, and northern CA around Lessen National Park. So this collection is a set of images from those states, taken last and this month....
Thanks for looking.
Fantastic series Greg. Loved it a lot. #2, #4 & #6 take the cake for me.
Loved how you have composed #4 and #6. #2 reminds me of a painting that I had seen.

Amazing sets of images and processing too.
#6 from near Cinder Cone in Lassen?
Yes it is. But watch out if you decide to go there. There was maybe 7 bears very near the trail to the cone. I was a bit spooked out to be honest. Black bears are small but brown aren't and they were feeding just right next to the trail.
Gregg, I have a general question on your swamp cypress photos. did you take them from a boat or you had to stand in shallow water? I was planning to join a swamp photography workshop and realized that I had to go in the water and I am sacred to get eaten alive by alligators.

I took two boat rides but didn't like them that much. The boat is rocking and you can't really use your tripod. At least I didn't take some specialized photography tour, just regular, so maybe on a photography tour the boat would stop and you could take nice and sharp shots. I had to use high ISO, and fast shutter speed. So, no, don't take a boat ride. I was simply shooting from the shore, that's it. I also rented a canoe but didn't like that either. You can shoot from the canoe handheld etc. But again, you can't use your tripod (some people actually put their tripods in the water, almost completely), but I didn't want to do that. If you just go to a small peninsula with those trees, and zoom in (I almost exclusively used my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 Z lens) you'll get awesome shots. If you go down close to the ground, you'll get nice reflection too (assuming there's no wind). So try few spots. And I haven't seen any crock or alligators there. Nothing. I only have seen one turtle but that's about it (and few birds of course). But I would not go into the water...
Oh, and if you're thinking of going, go now. The trees are turning beautifully now. I know some people will run their workshops next week, so that's a good time to go too. But why would you go to someone's workshop? Just get a room at some hotel, rent a car, and drive around the lake on your own. I did just that, and this was my first time there...
