The Marbled Godwit is not a common visitor to our area but are seen occasionally at this time of year during migration.
This one bird stayed for 2 weeks in the same little bay and allowed the local photographers to have a year's worth of photos in a very short time....and trust me...this bird had a crowd every day I went to see it.
A delight to view Geoff. 1,5, 8, 13, 17, 18 are my favorites from a superb set of photography Geoff.
After reading your description and then viewing the first with the godwit walking in front of you and the line of photographers I pictured a shooting galley at a carnival. I hope your wife enjoys the soughed bear.
Absolutely gorgeous images, Geoff! The low angle, the warmth of the light, the reflection and of course the details of the target and at the same time, the buttery smooth bokeh speaks volume.
The same goes for birds that attract a lot of photographers locally here from me. At times there could be some 40 photographers. Fortunately, the field we were shooting from is sizable and we can keep a safe distance from each other. The difference from looking at your images, our targets here are mostly are quite a bit higher than eye-level.

simply marvelous. is the amazing BG as a result of Cali fires?
EVFS.
Well the really nice orange backgrounds were actually on the first day in almost 2 weeks where the smoke was gone and the sun was out. So those were just the distant shoreline lit up with the first light.
Now images like #12 and any of the ones that have those duller tones were the day before and yes, those were from the smoke. Not sure if I can blame the smoke all the way down in Cali but certainly it was from WA and OR...probably a little CA mixed in with those two I guess. But the smoke was too thick to even let in nice sunrise light so I didn't get any of the potential red tones I might have had if the smoke was a little less dense.
