We are contacting some motels to get some group rates for all that want to stay at the same place...
About the Wildlife shoot (big cats) the 12.00 per person full day is going to be "caged" shots.... for the "natural background" (no cage) shots it's a private photo shoot and cost 100.00 per person per hour (ouch) but he did say he would give us a good break if alot of photographers were going to attend....
If you are interested in staying the night, post here so I can get an idea of the number that is going to attend to get better prices...
I misread the webpage, thanks for the clarification. $100/hour is darn steep, but for an opportunity to photograph wild cats in the "wild" is something that I'd be willing to pay a bit more for. I'd be interested in knowing what kind of discount rate he'd provide us so count me in as one of the very interested.
As far as hotel accomodation, depending on how early we'd start on Saturday, we live close enough to drive down that morning and just stay saturday night.
Guys, If you don't mind, I'd like to join in too. I'm up in the KC MO area. Keep me in the loop. I think the wife will let me go, of course, that means I'll have to be nice to her.....

Anyway, thats where my wife and I usually go to kick back at night when we visit Eureka Springs..

It will be a last minute thing for me, as I will be shooting turkeys in the last half of April and won't know if I can go until then. I am definitely interested in the cat shoot if I have the time that weekend.
I live in Oklahoma City and if there is still room, my wife and I would love to join you. I would also be interested in the wildlife shoot. If we get enough interest for the $100 shoot, count me in also.

I think with you and your wife, that will make 7 to 10 total, spouses included.. about the wild cat shots, I know of three of us willing to do it but the problem is, not enough of us are going to get a cut in price sooo.. If it stays as is, it will cost $100.00 per photographer for a one hour shoot with the cats out of their cages... otherwise, it will be 12.00 for an all day pass to shoot them in their cages...
$100.00 may be kinda steep, but how often do you get to shoot big cats out of their cages with natural backgrounds.. (no fences) ... at least this is what I have been telling myself about spending 100 buck for an hour shoot.. ... of course before I forked over the 100.00, I would want to see the background used for these private shoots and the cats....
saaketham, I probably won't be doing the 100.00 shoot either, I had to buy a new laptop for my business yesterday my Dell decided to crap out the day before my next gig.... so that put me back almost a grand!! ouch!!.. had to use my 20D savings
Anyway, we are still going on the shoot, will probably do the 12.00 all day plus we are going to be shooting a lot more things that day so join us...

thee are alot of places to stay there... we are going to stay at the Trade Winds http://www.eurekatradewinds.com ... this is where we always stay when we visit... they are on the main road and a few blocks from the downtown area... plus the trolley stop right next their place at the visiters center...

As far as what we will photo... anything and everything..lol
I figured a walk downtown we can get alot of the "old" town structures and houses...
We can also take a trolley ride "tour of the town" (this does cost, I think 5 bucks for an all day pass)
We will of course go to the wild cat reservation to get some shots... (let me know how many want the $100.00 shoot so I can call him and reserve the time...)
There are also nature trails we can go on to possibly get some bird and wildlife shots...
Plus lots more as mentioned in an earlier post... I think we can keep our cameras busy the whole day..lol Alot depends on what everyone wants to shoot as a group effort...
(note: you are NOT required to stick with the group.. you can go shoot whatever you want when you want.... ) I just want this to be a FUN meeting and shoot for everyone to attend.. I'm also open for suggestions on activities...
I just noticed on their event calendar they are have their annual Passion Play thing that weekend so space (rooms) might be limited so book now if you are going to stay the night or weekend as we are... We are going to arrive friday night and leave sunday afternoon.....
If you stay at the Trade Winds (Lee & Kelly) , Best Western Swiss Holiday or Sherwood Court (Ranada) , tell them Dave & Dee from Joplin Mo sent ya and they will hook you up.... The are all friends of ours from our visits in the past...
I noticed some other places have their rate online... some as cheap as 39.00 a night ....

We ought to hook up some time to go shoot locally.... I'm thinking of going to MoKan a few times to get some drag race shots... too bad 66 Speedway isn't going to open this year...

I'm the director of photography for The Chart, the newspaper at MSSU, so almost all of my time and energy has to be spent on getting a paper out every week. When I'm not doing that (summer/breaks typically or can get away during the week) I do commercial work for Southern's PR people, portraits and whatever else I feel like. I've done a lot of band work in the past, but that's slowed down in recent months.
I'll see if I can make April 30, but I normally won't know what I'm doing until a week or so beforehand.
