thanks Geoff. I am still struggling with the quick changes and the finer points of this gear. Hopefully after my tax season is over (October 15th), we can connect and I can pick your brain a bit.
But seriously KD, any new toy comes with it a new learning curve. I had used a friend's R5 + 100-500L on the weekend and I was not at all comfortable with it because the controls are different and this camera and lens are both obese ... to me - compared to my "petite" or some would call "Nancy-boy" E-M1.2 and 300 PRO lens.

The cost of the Sony setup, $2,500 for the camera and $1,600 for the lens, is $4,100. Okay, these are used prices alright but they are available used while you have to pay brand new prices for the Canon gear that will total over $6.6K for a difference of $2.5K .
The Canon R5 and 100-500L are flying off the shelves ... for very good reason ... and in spite of the R5 heating problem and "cheap" Sony option! So go figure!

From what I hear, the adapter allows the mount seamlessly
I am not going to hurry into any more purchases for now

Just me but with Canon you stilll need adaptor to mount on mirrorless RF mount. Not a fan of what Canon has offered in long lenses currently for mirrorless.
