No sign of disabling eFCS on the a7C help guide: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/2020/v1/en/index.html

not being able to disable eFCS, will that impact mainly with using off-camera flashes? .. or does that affect other aspects as well?

At this point I think it's fair to assume the a7C does not have a mechanical front curtain, probably a cost of miniaturization.

As to your question, EFCS also affects the shape of bokeh at high shutter speeds.
This effect depends on how fast the curtains move (s), and how far away from the sensor the mechanical curtain is (h).
In other Sony cameras, it becomes visible at around or bellow 1/1000s for wide aperture exposures.

From the a7R IV manual:

When you shoot at high shutter speeds with a large-aperture lens attached, out-of-focus circle produced by the bokeh effect may get cut off because of the shutter mechanism. If this happens, set [e-Front Curtain Shutter] to [Off].

For the A7C in those cases you will probably just want to set the camera to silent shooting (i.e., full electronic shutter). That should work well unless the subject is moving quickly, when silent shutter will get you rolling shutter distortion. High shutter speed plus wide aperture plus fast moving subject won't work well with this camera. You will have to chose between risking movement related distortion and worse bokeh. Not really a good choice.

NunoC / Paniolo, thanks for the info! I had to double-check my a7r2 to see what i had it set to. I guess I've always had it on. Hmmm. I do shoot alot with prime lens and wide open, i guess i never paid that close attention to the bokeh details lol.

Been contemplating on the A7C and selling A7R2 since i dont shoot as much as i used to and would prefer the smaller size of the camera with my small CV lenses. But still undecided.
