Yes, it depends on what one shoots and how one likes to shoot. Dim indoor lighting and candids are where I do the shooting that is most important to me.
Yeh, me too. But I boost my ISO so that I get a decent shutter speed. This allows me to shoot whenever I want...not only when the subject freezes motion. I can see having good IS for things like shooting interiors of churches where things don't move...but whenever there is a chance of movement of the subject, I will always increase the ISO.

The LCD is more square on A7c because it is a regular 3:2 aspect ratio 3" LCD. The A6xxx uses a 16:9 aspect ratio LCD. So even though technically A6400 LCD is still 3" because the diagonal is 3", the height is much lower. When you view the native 3:2 images on the A6xxx LCD screen, you get black bars on the side and the displayed image size is much smaller than a typical 3:2 aspect ratio 3" LCD. You have to make a tradeoff one way or the other.
Which is one of the head-scratchers. A Vlogger camera should have a 16:9 LCD, not a stills-oriented 3:2 one. That also would have allowed for the bigger EVF of the A6x00's.

Really...running around circles by testing IS on stable subjects? I think you have it backwards here. Testing IS on non stable subjects just leads to running in circles.
We've managed to do it.
If it's something you failed to do, just leave it at that. Simply state you can't do it, but don't read your failure to implement something into other photographers niche or technique.
I don't use IS on running subjects, but certainly can try IS or IBIS on posed human subjects, including near stationary objects or trees. For testing .. or for general photography.
Also, unless some has a tripod, where IS isn't really needed, a photographer's hands could be less stable than a so called "non stable" subject as you tried to interject. You must be on your 2nd or 3rd lap now trying to chase a nothing burger.

Sony has no idea why they made this camera.

My unstable hands nor the subject that is not completely still ever come into play as I ensure my shutter is adequate. Sure you can take images of trees holding the camera with IS...I'll just use my trusty tripod so I don't need to check to see if the image is fuzzy when I get it onto a computer.

But I don't think Sony has described or marketed this as a vlogger camera. I don't see any reason to believe that its primary audience is more video focused then stills. Its just smaller but other than that it is a regular A7 series cameras.

Just saw that the shutter speed only goes to 1/4000 instead of the 1/8000 of the a7iii. I wonder why they weren’t able to implement as fast a shutter?
like IBIS they claim it's a new shutter module, more compact, the flash-sync got downgraded too but it's negligible, you can reach 1/8000 in silent mode though

Sony is explicitly marketing the A7c as a vlogger camera. It was a huge part of the announcement event and marketing materials for the A7c.

Here is the dpreview article on A7c announcement including the press release, no where is it described as a vlogger camera:

Bad news for shooting moving subjects wide open in abundant light or pushing shutter speed to darken the BG with flash in HSS. I hit 1/8000 mechanical shutter on my a7iii all the time.

Sony is probably looking closely at their sales data and feedback in Asia.
'Vlogging camera segment is the lone shining star in declining digital camera market, which sold ~19 million units in 2018. Due to growing competition and the constant bid to standout from other videos, vloggers are willing to spend more on cameras which can capture great videos in all conditions, consuming less storage.'
'Asia pacific is expected to dominate the growth of Vlogging Camera Market, due to latest technical trends and developments in newly launched vlogging cameras. Vlog has become the new theme of user growth competition on several video platforms in China.'
'In China, several video platforms have started promoting vlog since the second half of 2018. For example, Bilibili’s vlog content upload has increased by 7.6 times in April 2019, compared with April 2018.'

Yes half down the page vlogging is mentioned as one of the uses of the camera. Sony includes almost all its cameras including A7RIV in its list of vlogging cameras (https://www.sony.com/electronics/vlog). As I pointed out Sony’s official press release announcing A7c does not anywhere mention this as a vlogging camera. If vloggers were primary target of this camera then I am pretty sure this would have got a mention in the official press release.
In any case, personally I don't care whether Sony markets this as vlogging camera or not. The main point was that a 3” 3:2 LCD screen as well as large EVF can’t fit within the heigh of A7c, unless they do something like making the camera wider and move the EVF to a side of the LCD and sensor. If you look at three "compact" cameras below, the EVF size on top of LCD is the main factor determining the total height of the camera:

A strange release really for Sony. I have always preferred smaller cameras ever since I started out with an Olympus OM1 but I think apart from the full frame sensor I would though anyone would be better off with the the A6600 which though being apsc seems to me to offer better usability. I certainly won't be buying
