To finish reviving the holy trinity......last of the three lenses used for this job (Masonry award). Thanks for feedback on this project!

Also been a year for this thread too. Such an amazing lens but not often loved so much on this board for some reason. These images were largely taken ~6:30am out of a moving truck for this 300km charity ride (1 day ride).

It's really such a versatile, ridiculously good lens......should be a workhorse but it gathers more dust than it should. Looking forward to seeing your next images with it

I continue to be blown away by the 70-200 Z, by far my most used lens.

A few shots of a JAL 787 and DL 767 from the LAX Economy lot roof taken with my 4 year old son who loves all things planes.

The Z 70-200 f2.8 VR S is simply an idiotically good lens.

1) Rose-crowned Fruit Dove

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/250s f/2.8 at 200.0mm iso1400

2) Emu

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/500s f/2.8 at 200.0mm iso125

3) Newly minted Lamb - although that might be a poor choice of words as Lamb is lovely with mint.

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/800s f/2.8 at 160.0mm iso220

4) Australian Ibis - ugly but...In Australia, we call them "bin chooks" or "tip turkeys" as they are always found trying to eat out of rubbish bins or at the local tip in amongst the rubbish.

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/2000s f/2.8 at 150.0mm iso250

5) Lady Amherst's Pheasant

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/400s f/2.8 at 120.0mm iso1000

6) Superb Fruit Dove

Z8 + Z70-200 f2.8 VR S, 1/320s f/2.8 at 200.0mm iso640

These are amazing Lance! And you're right......I'm feeling like an idiot for how little I use this lens. It's hard to beat!

Thank you very much, Rich. Much appreciated!

The lens amazes me every time I use it and like you, I just don't use it enough. However, I am going to make a concerted effort to use it more!

Pic 1 is rly cool. Is the light fall-off from the lens or environmental? Either way it's a great effect with the colorful fruit dove.

Wow... those doves have some wicked cool colors and patterns. The pink is so pink that it looks unreal. I think Australia wins the bird color war.
As always... the pictures are lovely, and you are right about the 70-200. My problem is that once I got the 100-400, the 70-200 became redundant... yet, such a good lens.

Thank you very much, Bruce. Much appreciated!

As it is spring here in Oz, it is a great time of year to get bird photos as they are all in their best breeding plumage. Some of the year, these doves can be a little "moth eaten" as they "let themselves go" so to speak. When they are at their best, they are such a stunning looking bird and when I first saw them over 20 years ago, I thought someone had painted them up to look that way! I wanted to use the 70-200 f2.8 as it has such stunning overall IQ and thus I went to the zoo so I could get closer than with wild birds and also the backgrounds can be better. These are more about the overall IQ rather than get the bird in the wild shot and even so, I spent many hours waiting for the best situations. Like you, the 100-400 is a much more useable lens and if I didn't do this from time to time, the 70-200 would sit on the shelf also.

That's true love to brave LAX traffic . I've been obsessed with planes since about your son's age too. If ya'll ever get the opportunity, the airport in Osaka has an amazing observation deck with unobstructed views of the runways (and a very cool aviation gift shop). Saw my first A380 there.

Some images from yesterday's local marathon. Decided to jump on my bike and just take the Z8 + 70-200 f2.8S. No gear decisions, just shooting. Unfortunately it was a bit dark and gloomy so I was stuck on f2.8 a bit more than I wanted. This lens never disappoints me though.
